Motor Mount Replacement Suggestions

Hey friends, just looking for your opinion on what I should go for when replacing all motor mounts. I want a comfortable idle (close to OEM) but something that will outlast OEM components. Sleeves on OEM? or performance polyurethane mounts?

I would suggest OEM parts. If you buy the passenger side mount from the dealer, you get the engine bracket already pressed in. The ones that Autozone/O'Reilly sell don't have it, and you need a press to swap it over. I just did the left and right mounts on my car a week ago, and I tried to save money by using the driver side mount from O'Reilly. It fits like crap, only two of the four bolt holes lined up. I will be replacing it with an OEM one from the dealer soon.

some new oem mounts with some corksport polyurethane inserts is a good dd setup. Performance mounts, regardless of duro will add tons more vibration in the cabin

oem, and i work at autozone and i am tell you this! the oem ones mount up 100% and have everything ready to go, i did mine a few months back when i did the clutch. mine were still ok but i was taking alot of them out so i swapped em

Sounds like OEM is definitely the way to go. I guess I'll do that and add the corksport inserts since I would like to go either with their exhaust or an OBX one.

I have some AWR inserts FS in the FS section.

I went with some aftermarket motor mounts from https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned) plus an OEM rear mount (that I still have to install).

FYI: The passenger side OEM motor mount will run you 2-3x more than a set of 4 aftermarket mounts. It's also the easiest one to replace (about 15 minutes worth of work). Even if you get oh... 1/3rd of the life of the OEM mount, you'll still save like $200 (at the cost of 30 extra minutes) over the life of your car.

I went with aftermarket mounts that were made by Anchor (sp)? They all fit just fine. I got them through Rock Auto. I never compared cost to OEM, but I'm sure it saved a few dollars. I took the rear lower mount (the one between the firewall and the back of the transmission) and the front lower and filled them with a 60 durometer pourable polyurethane. The increase in vibration is minimal, but noticeable. This definately firms up the mount over stock. Shifting is much more precise which tells me it helps keep the motor and drivetrain from moving so much.

Hi all I need to replace all 4 mounts and would like to ask if I could just replace 2 at a time since I don't have the $ to replace all 4 at once. What about picking up 4 used ones at a wrecking yard and adding cork sport inserts as a option? Any thoughts ? Thank you for your time.

Bad idea. For the price of cork inserts, you can buy a whole set of 4 ok aftermarket mounts. You need mounts that are in good shape to use the inserts to begin with. Why do you want the cork inserts anyway?

You don't need mounts that are in good shape to use inserts. The polyurethane holds up even if the rubber is cracked and worn out.

Corksport inserts are pretty stiff too. You will get mild vibration if you install just the front insert, medium vibration if you install just the rear, "total vibration" if you install both. The vibration occurs during idle and goes away while driving, unless you have a manual transmission, then you can put it into neutral. In my automatic, even if I put the car in neutral, the vibration was still there while waiting at a light.

I have installed 3 70 durometer AWR engine mounts (rear not installed yet). I installed them about 4 years ago The shifting (manual) improved but there is significant vibration in the cabin. The rear view mirror vibrated so much at the beginning that everything was blurry but not anymore.

OEM install while saving some money and getting a little extra stiffness? Go to ebay and buy an aftermarket "oem" set, buy a tube of 3m window weld and fill in all the gaps in the mounts. Did this a few months ago and it works great, and BARELY noticeable increase in vibration. The only one I didn't replace yet was the rear one, wasn't feeling that ambitious lol
