I would like to know if anyone upgraded their climate controls on sport or touring models to the grand touring automatic climate control. This is something I have thought about diong but don't know if its possible.

I personally don't think it is possible as there are sensors required for the dual zone automatic climate control.

I'm sure it's possible, it just takes money. Probably a lot of it!

I'd actually like to know if anyone's investigated this too.

To see how feasible this is, you would need to pour over the repair manuals and wiring diagrams. It is possible that the wiring harness is installed, and you add the components and maybe a few sensors. Unlikely, but possible. More likely is that you would have to integrate it yourself. Amount of work could vary tremendously. I doubt anyone has done this, or really knows the answer, but I could be wrong.

I will start by looking in the repair manual. If this is doable the heated seats buttons would be useless though because I dont have the heating elements in the seats.

If the HVAC conversion is possible, you could just install the elements and wire them to the factory switch.

I say don't bother. The temp system on the GT is really just for show. I would argue that it does not control the temperature very well at all anyway. And, the front is too small to have the temps be that different for the driver and passenger...

I just really like the way it looks.

If you like the way it looks because of the dials, check this thread out: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123839063-CX-5-Sport-and-Touring-AC-Knob-Replacement

Guy got some replacements and put it in his car:

Agreed. More often than not, I end up overriding the automatic settings. For instance, it always turns the A/C on. I understand why it does this, but I don't feel it's necessary unless it's very hot or very humid.

Is that the 2015 model? The gear shifter looks different.
I lioe gt climate control because oc the digital temperature display.

That's my car and it's a 2014.5. Btw the knobs look a great deal better, but it's not perfect.

If you plan on keeping a car with automatic a/c system, plan on have money to burn when it time to diagnose and then repair. I will never have auto ac again due to cost of diag and repairs. My entire family actually doesnt like it anymore. Got the touring because it didnt have auto ac.
