Halucod's P5 (Terrible Budget)

My car runs fine as a daily driver, but for something a little faster, it may need some work ;). But because I don't have the money to be throwing into the performance I was just looking at making it look nice.
 
Honestly im not diggin the green on the rims (that particular color Green) i liked the stock rims painted back better.. the hood is ok i kinda like it and the rear valance is always done. Now the tails ehhh umm nah they gotta go look for JDM Tails but those carbon Altezzas are soo how u say Fast & furious 1. Ultimately its ur car end everyone has different tastes so do as u wish My statement is just my opinion based on my style.
Welcome to the Forum And if im not mistakes the protege sedan 01-03 has green cluster lights mayb swap the cluster
 
I totally agree. The green on the rims does have to go. I will be painting them this spring or summer. Also im not a fan of the JDM tails which if we are talking about the same one they are red with a horizontal white line for the blinkers? I already ordered the LED's for the gauges so i will just stick with that. Thanks for the feed back as always :)
 
Do the panels have the bumper mounting clip holes that would be under the panel ?

My fenders are actually in pretty good shape,... I'm mostly interested in how new panels are installed.

As far as I gather, they have to be welded in along every edge,... including up underneath (where at least three sheets of metal join together). That seems like a huge undertaking an I'm curious to see how it's done.

It's not like replacing the front fender where the new piece just bolts on.
 
You are correct. You do have to weld them into place and I feel it would be a pain to cut the spot out for them perfectly
 
Yes it would be a pain but the only way to get rid of the rust on some panels will be to cut it out and weld in a patch panel. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and pay the body shop to fix the problem for you.
 
Maybe but between my dad and I we should be able to do it. Body shops are expensive and why have them do it when you can :)
 
I would have them do it for two reasons one body work and paint takes a lot of talent and experience to do right. I have no desire to half ass it and try doing it myself. Two a friend of the family owns a body shop so for most things I just have to pay for the supplies and no labor charge.

Oh lol well you got lucky and know someone with a body shop. Idk where id even take my car to get it done.
 
LED's are coming today. Super excited to make those gauges green! Too bad I have to work tonight so I won't be able to do it for a bit....

Btw I'm really considering getting a DG lip and the grille insert so if anyone has one they want to part with let me know. I put a threat on the WTB section but it does not hurt to ask :)

What he said,... body work is completely different than throwing a wrench,... it's a form of art that needs practice,.. if you or your dad have never done it before then you may be in for one very big mess,... at least practice on some old car part before attempting it on your car.

P.S.,... I believe the old and new panels can be overlapped a bit (then riveted, glued or welded together) then blended in to not see the seam.
 
If you can overlap the panels that would make everything 100% easier. My dad is a pretty good welder and we have some experience with bondo and such so it shouldn't be that hard. Also my LED's officially came in. Now i just need a decent chunk of time to put em in.'

I'm just kinda guessing but I'm sure you can at least leave tabs to connect to ??? I can't see why you couldn't feather in a big seam with bondo ??? (sheet metal's pretty thin)

Bikingpro has done it,.. maybe you could PM him for info or links ???
