The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Get it up to temp. Run up to 3rd or 4th, accelerate, engine break down. Repeat that 10-15 times and then change the oil and go give it hell. Proceed to change the oil again at 100 miles, 250 miles and 500 miles. Ocasionally if the oil starts to look dark again when nearing 1k miles I'll do an oil change then as well to flush out any remaining metals but typically by the second oil change it will stay clear and the 500 is just me being anal.

Yup 600 miles, not 1000. 350 was highway. I did try to alter my speed between 65-75 as much as I could, as well as downshifting to 5th on occasion. (Manual mode is nice that way, Lol. Pics well be up eventually. I've been busy driving it, and next week I'll be away.

We had this engine break in discussion like a month ago at most....

I've also noticed lower mpgs fwiw, from 28-29 to 26-27, even with new plugs/wires and cleaning my K&N.

I haven't seen my mileage change on the truck, 17mpgs constant. As for breaking in, I took delivery if my speed3 with 47 miles on it, 7 were from my test drive. Who knows who drove it before me, and how. I beat the s*** out of it since day 1

How much do they charge Sho to do that test on oil?

Font bumper is wrapped and I never ever want to wrap a full front MSP bumper again. Now I have to do the front lip :( and the fenders. Might have to just paint the side skirts because I don't know if I'm going to have enough material.

I know a few people have cx7's around here as well as a few speed 6's. I noticed a small puddle of oil on my little plastic skid plate the other day when i took it off to go to ziebart. I've left it off for a few days. I've noticed 2 small dime sized puddles/wet spots on the ground right underneath the front diff. I can't see where it's coming from. Have any of you guys have this problem? I'm gonna call mazda usa to see if it is covered under my certified used or extended warranty Tuesday, but i didn't know if any of you guys have dealt with this before. The drain plug was tight & everything else seemed tight that i could find.

just a quickie... I've got the wheels from my Miata that I'm planning on putting on in the spring...assuming I can chose a color for them (planning on powdercoating them.)

As for the engine break in procedure discussion, I wouldn't expect a catastrophic failure just by a different break in procedure in the first 1000 miles. I'm talk long term. I would like to know how the owner on my MS6 did it, or how Shalon did it in the black P5 where that motor just won't die.

I wasn't bashing on you, Grumpy. Just saying I would've stayed away from highway miles (constant RPM) since that seems to be the general consensus on the break in procedure. But now we can wait and see how Jons, Anthonys and my motor hold up after 100k miles.

But speaking of, I changed the oil again and a fresh K&N filter and nothing showed up on the Mishimoto magnetic oil plug. Everything feels good! I'm at 820 miles. One more oil change at 1500 for good measure and I should be good to go.

I did get on it attempting to keep up with Peaches on the way home from Wills. These cars suck with their non-cable throttles. I have to left off the throttle earlier so i don't over-rev between shifts. Even easier to do with the lighweight flywheel and BSD.

our cx 7did the same thing and was covered under the factory warranty.

you're not going full throttle, otherwise you would have passed me.

Some of us are going to be at The Bier Haus on Saturday for dinner, nothing official but people are welcome

was that the front or rear? I'm out of the normal factory warranty. I know the rear diff is common, but i haven't found anything on the front
