Live traffic updates?

I too still don't have any live services....
I also have issues with my bluetooth phone system with a constant buzzing noise.
I also have issues with a shake in the wing mirrors.

I hope they get all these issues fixed asap so I can get rid of this car.... This car has the potential to be the best car I have ever had, but it is positively the worst car I have ever had, due to the endless list of issues and endless return visits to my local Mazda dealer. What a waste of money this car was.

Geoff,
Unfortunately I agree with you, I today went back to BMW and said goodbye to the CX5

I am planning on going to look at the Range Rover Evoque, quite fancy one of them..... Will check out the relevant forums first of all too see if they have issues like the CX5, but I can't imagine that they would.

Don't rush to buy one.
Heavy on fuel, and whatcar don't rate the auto box, car returns low 30's.

LR are looking at fitting a new 8 speed box.

As yet I wouldn't touch a LR car due to potential reliability issues.

If you can live with the downmarket interior a BMW X3 is a excellent drive in auto (8 speed box).

And returns 40 mpg. in 2L form.

Yes I have the brolly up.

If I go to the signal strength via network it shows greyed out bars and no simcard or any other information.

Does anyone else find it irritating that you go back to the map every time? even my Garmin has a return button!

Anyway I've emailed Tom Tom.

If you find you have constant buffering on My Services and Weather, then might be an idea to check your signal strength. To do that, go to settings, then Status & Information, hit the icon Version Information which takes you to another screen with loads of numbers and hopefully the serial number of the unit and your sim-card. Look for 4 black buttons at the bottom, chose the Network Button, and you will then get a bar chart and will be highlighted according to signal strength, if any of course.

If you get none of this welcome to my club!

Anyone noticed any common denominators?

When mine fails it is after I leave an area of poor signal. All is OK when I get to my destination, but when I leave, the "umbrella of death" appears and no live services for about 3 weeks; then for no reason at all suddenly will work again.

Bizarre.

My live services have not worked for even a second for months.... It's beyond belief that Mazda sell these cars for an awful lot of money, yet when a problem develops they cannot fix it. I might take advice from my solicitor and investigate returning the car to Mazda as unfit for purpose under the sale of goods act.... Although I think the cost of going down this route may be prohibitive. As such I may just take a depreciation hit on the car and trade it in.... I'm not going to do anything in a hurry, will mull it over for a month or two and see what the best way forward is, but I have lost all faith in Mazda's customer service and in their ability to rectify the issues.... Sorry, rant over.... For now.

You sound as frustrated as I am. Can I assume you have been down the route of attempting to involve Mazda Customer Service?

I have had lots of dialogue and have hit a huge brick wall. So much so that despite the fact on the whole I like the car, I cannot say the same for the so-called support.

Hi Alex.... I have contacted Mazda Customer Care.... ( Or maybe that should be Mazda Customer Don't Care? ) Several times.... I never had any joy with them. To be fair, the guys at my local dealers are good, they take the car in, fix it or at least attempt to fix it as best they can... But for something like the live services issue they can do nothing, it needs someone higher up the chain to sort it out, but nobody seems to care..... I wonder if we could get enough people together somehow to make an approach to Watchdog to get the issue broadcast on TV, surely then Mazda would have to do something?

Doubt if anyone would get anywhere with Watchdog, not contentious enough and they like to have something with dramatic effect. There is not much risk of anyone being ripped off or heaven forbid injured.

Best route to take is the trade press. I take Auto Express every week, and I subscribe to Bayer Media the publishing company behind Fleet News.

Another tip, get onto Mazda UK Facebook page, as this is managed by Mazda and anything posted over the weekend will remain on site as it is doubtful there will be anyone at their head office to make anything posted by us, the consumer, disappear.

I simply cannot grasp the total indifference of Mazda on this. I feel there is no point in me appealing to them as they are not even replying to me at all.

I moved from Volkswagen to Saab before going to Mazda, and was hoping to enjoy my new experience as part of the Mazda Family.

So Far No Good. Still an excellent car though!

From the Tom Tom forum. No doubt nearly everyone has seen this, but just in case........

Hi all,

Thank you for your continued feedback. We much appreciate it!

To be clear, TomTom and our partners are putting a lot of effort into finding the root cause and solving the LIVE issues you're experiencing. We take our customers very seriously and are planning a fix for this very complex issue, whilst also investigating further improvements. Unfortunately we cannot provide a date yet, but we assure you that this has a lot of attention.

All the best,
Ditte

Have you seen the 'Which' 2013 Guide? They report the Evoque as having very bad reliability; 12% of cars up to 3 years old had had breakdowns!

It's not covered in the 'Reliability' section - too new!!

But in the 4x4/SUV top 10 'Best Buys' it's 6th with 80% . . . but bear in mind there's only 3% difference between the No 1 (Audi Q5 with 82%) and No 10 (BMW X1 with 79%).

Recieved a similar email from Mazda UK this morning. Very very annoying as my live services were working ok until a few weeks back and I have around 2k miles of driving in scotland to do over the next few weeks!! Couldnt have timed it worse...

Have you sat in one? They are like the inverse of Doctor Who's Tardis and tiny on the inside. If you have a family, they are completely impractical, rear cabin space is inadequate as are the slit like rear windows and tiny boot.

The Evoque is just a styling exercise, pure form over function.

Thanks m4zda.man I haven't read this, but I will look for the article now.

Hi Buzz, I did test drive one before I bought the CX5, it is smaller inside for sure, but it is a nice car to drive. I chose the CX5 due to the supposed better mpg figures..... But as I'm only getting between 36 - 40 on long runs I should have bought the Evogue.... I need to wait before changing the CX5 as I'll take too much of a depreciation hit if I sell it now.

How many miles has it done in total? I'm up to 4k in mine and finding mpg average is improving noticeably since I bought it (just driven 200 miles mostly on motorway and averaged 46mpg with cruise control stuck on 77mph for most of the journey). Can only see it improving.

I'm showing 43.7 on the average read out, that's local short journeys.

It drops to 40 mpg on the motorway, but rises of the motorway to a max of 49 mpg so far, all with a new engine under 1K miles.

While the RR auto only runs to 32 mpg according the Evoque they had on the longterm test, it was an auto though.

Any chance this could go back on topic?

It is well documented now that there is a recognised problem with Live services, so will be interesting to see what is going to be done for us in particular regards some form of compensation for inconvenience and needless sitting in avoidable traffic queues for hours at a time.

In my case Six visits to my dealership. Then of course the traffic hold-ups which could have been avoided including me sitting on the motorway for over two hours on the hottest day of the year at the junction that is approx 15 minutes from my home.
