Mazda6 Pace Car at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway

So I spent the weekend at Laguna as a track worker for MotoGP. Noticed they had some new pace cars, which happened to be 2014 Mazda6!

Car is lowered, brembo big brake kit up front, and has exhaust. I got close enough in the paddock to get some close ups. Looks like Koni Yellows with H&R springs (blue). 20" advan wheels. The exhaust looks like 3"+ piping custom catback with Magnaflow mufflers. I tried talking to the driver but he didnt speak good english and had no idea about the car.

Do need more info! Too bad he couldn't communicate better. I'd love to know wheel/tire specs too.

Agreed Monkee! But slotted rather than drilled for me. I'd love to see a rear kit as well, just to match.

Nope...tried. Front calipers and front rotors on a 6 and a CX-5 are identical, but not the same part number. The rear on the 6 is smaller than the CX-5...but it's like 10.7 vs. 11.6...something tiny like that. All 4 on the CX-5 rotors are the same size...the rear on the 6 is smaller.

Thought about a switch-a-roo the day I ought the car and asked 4 dealerships...no bueno!

I put 20" on my 6 and I went with 245/40/20 tires with 20"x8.5" with 35mm offset and cannot lower it with this set up.

If I wanted to lower it with 20s, it would have been 235/30/20 tires with the same wheels. I went for the wheel well fill without lowering.

This was the info my wheel guy gave. I may decide to lower it when I need to change the tires, but I like the extra sidewall, especially with L.A. streets with pond sized pot holes.

I was thinking of doing 20x9 +35mm with 245/35-20 and starting with H&R's unless Eibach can get their Pro-Kits out before I take delivery. I'm going to do some final measuring once I get the actual car. I may end up having to run a +40mm ET. How is your inner clearance Monkee?

Inner clearance is perfect on both front and back. The rear should be fine at 40 ET, the tire at 245 is great until I have a full load or hit a bump during a tight turn or a large dip at high speed. It's tire rub...nothing major. It's mostly because the rear fender wells aren't an even factory roll. I'm going to roll the rear in the next few weeks.
