2014 Mazda3?

I don't know if I would take a 2015 Mazdaspeed 3 or a 2014 Mazda 3 2.5L. The 2.5L has more than enough power for daily driving, especially since this new model is lighter than the current generation. And it will probably get at least 5mpg better and at least $3000 cheaper than the Mazdaspeed. BUT, the Mazdaspeed will be much more fun and much faster.

I don't think I've wanted a car more than this before. We already have the pleasure of driving the 2.5 in our CX-5 but hearing it's going to be 184HP in the 3, not to mention all the bells and whistles, I can't wait for it.

Not to mention the 2.5L should be somewhere around 2800 pounds. Which should make the 2.5L a whole lot of fun.

I looked at the tach and was like only 6000RPMs? Then i realized its the tach for the diesel verison, is it coming to the states? no idea

Yeah, not sure why they didn't bother including one here. I understand with the last gen gauge cluster, there wasn't a place to put it. But here it could be along the bottom of the left screen the same way the fuel gauge is along the bottom of the right screen. It would look a lot more symmetrical that way.

Oh well, guess that means the car is terrible and we should consider something else, right?

I wonder if they're going to have the ieloop option when they come out this fall since the 6 didn't get the option till now. If everything goes well, I'll be getting the fully loaded 2.5 GT sedan end of the year. I almost bought a first mazda 3 back in 2009 but then saw the 2nd gen come out and almost bought that, but then somehow ended up with a pontiac lol This time around, I'm getting a 3 for sure.

I had the same response as a few of you: where is the 2.5/6MT combo?

According to Mazda, the 2.5 is going to be released only with the automatic in August, with the 2.5/6MT model coming soon afterwards. If you recall, Mazda did a similar thing with the 2014 Mazda6; launched it with the 6MT only on the Sport trim, then later offered the manual with the Touring.

I heard that the Dodge Dart was launched with a manual transmission only, and Dodge couldn't move many off dealer lots because people refuse to drive them. Sales finally started to pick up when the automatic was offered. Mazda doesn't want to have a similar situation.

These are only the target mpg figures and aren't finalized yet. I really hope they could eke out a bit more mpgs from this car than the 6. Either way though, still impressive.
