The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

i know there are a lot of you guys in the thread that arent into sports, and the ones that are probably dont like teams from Pittsburgh LOL... however i felt i had to share the view "from the office" at my second job... haha, not very often you get a pic a professional stadium from field level (yes i was actaully standing in the outfield when i took the pic)

What is your second job? That's a pretty sweet view.

Normally I would say, that sucks having to work for the Pirates, but they are on pace for their first winning season in like 10 years.

i work Valet and park some of the players car, but primarily the players WAG's (Wives And Girlfriends) as well as some of the higher ups in the front office (owner, GM, Coaches etc)

they have a garage just for them under/behind the big scoreboard in RF, by the 3rd inning we are normally done parking and i stand in the "tunnel" and watch from almost where i took that picture from for the rest of the game... its pretty easy, get to drive some REALLY nice cars and get paid to more or less watch baseball games LOL (plus im the 3rd/backup guy and only work 5-6 games a month, i dont work every game)

Sounds like an awesome deal! And I bet you get to drive some nice/interesting cars. Haha.

Sweet gig Levi! Let's see, you get to drive nice and sometimes exotic (?) cars, rub elbows with the players and their family, watch a baseball game from field level for free and they pay you to do it?! Hell, I'd do that s*** for free. :)

Going to Night under Fire at Summit Motorsports park on August 10th. Anyone else want to go I'm getting seats in section Motz 1D

some of the players drive/park their own cars and we dont ever get to touch them lol (Merc AMG CL, Shelby Super Snake, GTR, and a couple modded/supercharged Range Rover Sports) however some of them i have driven, and of the ones ive driven, the brand new Jag XJL has to be one of my favorites, that car is just dirty.. haha

i deal with the players somewhat (generally after the games, not before)
i primarily deal with the wives/gf's (some of which are REALLY nice people and will stand and talk to you for 10-15 mins before heading into the game) umps, coaches, front office etc haha

yeah and its actually more than i thought they would pay me, haha i was originally just doing it for the whole fun factor haha

sooo... anybody know of local on-road tracks where I can run a Tamiya mini, just for fun? I was doing some searching and found 1 track in Maple Heights (The Gate), but they don't have a class for the mini and its for racing only. Works like an autox, you run and then you work. I'm just looking for a place that has a layout (carpet or whatever) where I can just go an run the car. Found a bunch of off-road tracks, but I can't put the mini through that, and I don't feel like buying an off-road vehicle.

Sometimes we get Cavs or Browns players, only one I have recognized is Varejao (not a big sports fan). Nice dude, kinda quiet, his girlfriend drove and paid for everything.

nice, thats pretty cool... and Varejao would be easy to spot with as tall as he is and that big ass head of hair he has LOL

yeah, I've seen him at games at the Q but you never realize how tall they are till they stand right next to you... lol

hahahaha yeah, i completely understand that!
in college i worked security for steelers games, some of those guys are HUGE and TV doesnt do justice to how massive some of the players are (not just talking linemen either) haha

[/U]If anyone is willing to help a fellow Protege5 owner out, I'd appreciate it. I'm about to buy K Sport coils for my car and I was going to buy all new wheels and tires. If I get deep dish steelies and camber it, what size wheels would be best?[/I][/B]

This is the wrong group to ask about that sort of stuff. The mentality here is listed below...

1) We'll all tell you not to get K-Sports. BC at minimum.
2) Steelies? Many of us will tell you that we don't have VW's. We know nothing about that sort of stuff
3) Camber? Adjusted to get an equal temperature distribution across the surface of the tire. Not adjusted in order to make things "fit."

So... I suggest stopping in on this thread and asking these guys. They'll help you with just about everything.

Hope it helps you.

deep dish steelies look like garbage, camber looks like garbage, and k-sports are garbage. Don't ruin a car make it look/perform well and have some fun with it. Nobody here is into the slammed life and we actually use their cars for their intended purpose.

I know what you mean. Those guys are massive. In high school, my drum line got to perform at half time in Cleveland during the Browns/Steelers game. Before half time, we were standing on the field waiting. You get a really good perspective as to how big those guys are. I'm 6'1" too. I was standing about 10 feet from big Ben and that dude is massive lol

hahahah yeah..... i think ALOT of numbers are fudged for football players
the biggest 2 that never looked that MASSIVE on tv to me were Joey Porter, listed at 6-2, 250 but im around 6-1 230 and he DWARFED me... he was atleast 3-4 inches taller than listed and a good 30+lbs heavier too! i lived with a body builder for 5 years and Phil was 6-6, 280 and i still think Joey Porter was bigger LOL and Brett Keisel that man is MASSIVE!!! another that easily is 20+ heavier than what they have him listed haha

Big Ben and james Harrison were a couple other guys too, Harrison's listed height might give him an inch or 2 but he is incredibly/freakishly thick/muscular haha the nickname "silverback" after a gorilla is fitting for that man haha

oh and i may be late to the party but CONGRATS on COTM Will!!!
