The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I was bored at work on Friday. So I turned my office chair into a motorcycle.

You've got too much time on your hands

Pablo. I cringed when you explained the ankle... And not much makes me cringe--not even blood. But broken bones and ligaments AHHHH!!!

I've had several broken bones and torn ligaments, sprained my knee when I laid down my bike. Haven't had any incidents in 14 years...

I was thinking about something after the day @ Mid Ohio and saw that same idea while watching an video from an HPDE in Laguna Seca. Sometimes I had a hard time seeing a hand signal for a pass, so I thought why don't we signal to pass with the turn signals? Don't know what group was running on the video I saw, but it was very clear when people were giving you permission to pass, especially when its dark and\or raining. Anybody else feel this way?

Luckily I've never broken a bone. Half of my invincibility complex comes from not having been injured in so long I think lol. Yesterday was a good indication of that, as I was down in southern ohio with a group of bikes and on the back of the bike hanging my butt off when things went wrong (no one was last hurt but there was an excellent possibility).

I've been waiting for it.... The moment when I get hurt again. But all my injuries before were from playing sports lol.

I had the very same thought Pablo. As long as all of the cars on track have working signals why not use them. Seems like a no brainer to me, just hit the turn signal to show what side of the track you are planning to move to and the passing car can go right by.

It was good and funny seeing you there randomly haha.

Good Monday Morning All!!! You have a good weekend? I worked Saturday Morning, and had my wife's surprise birthday party Saturday Night. An Sunday we took the kids to see Monsters University. Overall I would say a good weekend. Now time to start a good productive week.

I personally like the hand signals for passing... The signals at the Auto Interests day were pretty bad, particularly in the novice and intermediate groups. I think the big reason it was so bad was the lack of direction at the driver's meeting. Every driver's meeting I've been to at Mid-Ohio, it's always 1 signal, 1 car, with examples of proper signals and they explain where the passing zones are and what side the passing will be done in each of these zones.

My problem with the turn signal for passing is what if someone accidentally hits it like people tend to do with their wipers when they have a near spin? Are people going to suddenly start passing them because they think they are getting a signal? How do you let multiple cars by? 2 blinks for 2 cars?

I think it is easier to be clear with hand signals, but they must be done properly.

What you say about the driver meeting is true, there should have been better directions and passes\signals should have been given on a car per car basis. From what I saw on the video, each car got a passing signal with the turn signals, but everybody seemed to be expecting that. I agree that you can turn the signals on by mistake, happened to me that day, I guess either method would work better if every body is clear and respectful of the rules.

Yeah if you know what to expect, how to give signals, and do it properly either way should work.

Good weekend here. Worked a ton, did some events with my regional manager and went to bdubs afterwards to celebrate the successful events. Got my RMM on the car yesterday...had to cut some stripped threads off the end of a bolt, but other than that it was pretty simple.

How's the car feel now that you have a functional RMM?

I went over Jake's on Saturday and he did my HPFP internals. It didn't take him very long, he's done about 12 now HAHA! I also bought his Synapse BPV and we got it installed. Everything is running great and my fuel pressure looks good! Thanks for the help Jake!

I also "helped" Pablo out by driving his MSM from the hospital to his house. Definitely is a fun little car!

Car drives great now. No more clunk on the 1st to 2nd shift, or any hard shifting for that matter, which is awesome. Stock bushing was toast.

Glad you got the internals in! Peace of mind is a great feeling.

Haha! My stock rmm wasn't looking so good when I swapped it out at 18000 miles. I then put 83000 miles on the ********** RMM I got for $40 (barely used). When I swapped the SU RMM out and put the JBR RMM in at 101000, the SU RMM was toast. The bushing fell apart as soon as I pulled it out haha!

I'm in total agreement, it is important that the "proper hand signals are given"! I think that Auto Interest should do some sort of the "classroom instruction" as for as the flags, proper hand signals, etc. They should also do some sort of, for lack of a better term, a weeding out process to determine where drivers belong, Novice, itermediate or advanced. I mean, looking at that intermediate group, several drivers should not have been in that group based on the videos that I saw. Proper hand signals are are a must and if not done correctly, can lead to someone totaling their car or worse, killing someone becuase of not giving a proper point by.

I actually do more work from home as I have less interruptions and can concentrate more on the multiple tasks that I have to complete. Worked on Tom's CX-7 with Marc, it was hell getting off his from rotors, as we had to heat those bad boys up until they were glowing! I simple jpb took us nearly 6 hours to complete! I had to literally swing Marc's hammer as hard as I could and we finally got those bad boys off. I did not get a chance to work on my car, too damn tired! May in a couple of weeks!
