What have you done to your P5 today?

Wash and wax! I didn't take any pics because I realized the bastards stole my wheel cleaner too... and I didn't buy any. And I still need to detail the interior.

That's the craziest thing I've ever heard!

That's what I'm saying! You'd think they'd look in the fridge... just for fun. Nope. Didn't take any tools, the box of old Playboy magazines, nothing... just car care products. The town I live in...

Well you have two major clues! One is that he's a terrible thief or a very religious person seeing that he doesn't drink or look at playboy. 2 is that he loves his car more than his religion because he was willing to steal for it.

So in conclusion you're looking for a Priest or Rabi with a very clean and shiny car. (it's better than trying to find a lazy person in a shiny car, that just seems harder (2thumbs))

The irony to all of this... I live down the street from a catholic church

Go and interrogate the Father or one of the alter boys. Someone knows something and they aren't willing to talk so you might have to play hardass. LOL

Catholic!? Damn, that's some Illuminati s***. You're going to have to join the Free Masons and earn Master Mason Status before you challenge the Knights Templar and get your detail supplies back. It's probably on it's way to the Vatican now so the Pope can store it in the Catacombs under the city.

Bought mine a Braille battery and bracket, new Mishimoto PS can, few more fittings as well as some powder for the rest of my brackets. Going to be a fun weekend in the yard installing stuff.

Put the Protege 5 up for sale, and looks like it'll be sold this weekend or next week.
Moving on to a miata! Got plans for a build for drifting with some of the guys at XDC and Lone Star Drift!!

mx-p5 has one more person to add to his list of "p5 to mx5 lineage". I almost picked a second car up, an mx5, but everyone said thats not logical. I have a p5 already and it still needs a bit of work. Ill fix her up and see where im at.

OT, almost plastidipped my valence, decided not to as I didnt have time to wait to put 4 coats on. Im gonna work on getting the exhaust mani fixed up (leak) this weekend too. Just need two bolts...

I've wanted this plate since Crash Tag Team Racing came out back in the day. I can check that off my list now! (and its since been flipped the right way. Pretty sure its illegal to mount it upside down)

Plastidipped my windows and mirrors.

This evening I changed my shifter bushings, they were definitely due. The car shifts a lot easier now :)

I also managed to snap one of the parking brake cables; I'm not sure if I'm even going to bother fixing it...

Fixed my squeeking wp/alt belt. Was missing the tensioner bolt for quite some time now. Finally ordered one from onlinemazdaparts and installed it today. No more embarrassing shrieks

Drove 320 miles round trip to Indianapolis and back this week. Averaged 28mpg there and 27.5mpg coming home. Not too shabby I must say. However, I need brakes and an oil change now.

I sourced some Mazda3 seats from the wreckers, 100$ a piece. Great condition too!

Road trip hesterday to Manchester NH with my son and his friend to attend Brickfair 2013. Our day started out great yesterday, made it into Manchester just after 11, found parking and enjoyed Brickfair. The boys were impressed with some of the MOCs (a Lego chess match where the pieces moved via a computer program was one of them along with a huge display of a WWII battle from the Pacific) and bought most of the stuff on their lists. Headed home around 2:30 and they were both wiped and wanted to skip The Razor. That's where the day turned south. As I was on the on-ramp for 15S off of 91S in CT, the car up and died on us at approx 4:45! :( I immediately noticed we lost power and the gas pedal wasn't cooperating. The gauge cluster showed the temps were fine but the tach and speedometer were quickly falling and the CEL was lit solid. Popped the hood and everything looked ok from what I could visibly see and all fluids were at full levels (changed the oil on Friday). Called the wife and son's friends mom to let them know, then the State Police followed by my insuracne co. for roadside assistance. Girl verified my info. and estimated the mileage home at 150 miles home which I confirmed from the nav on my phone. After a couple of calls back and forth she said she found a co. willing to tow her home for $500 (only get 16 free miles :() and would be there within the hour. The alternative was to have the wife drive 3hrs to pick us up, 3hrs home, have someone I don't know work on the car and then make the 6hr round trip later in the week...the $500 seemed like a good choice. Until the driver didn't show up until 7ish and thought it was only me to take home. Had to drive back to the shop to swap trucks for one with an extended cab to accomodate the three of us. So we didn't get on the road home until 8:00!!! (argh)

Of course at the shop, the mgr proceeds to tell me that the estimmate of $500 was wrong as the rep told him it was 110 miles where he had it at 150 miles???? As stated above...the girl confirmed with me the mileage of 150 before getting the quote from the co.??? He then says that at their rate of $4.75 a mile it will be well over $600 and wanted to let me know...in case I wanted to change my mind, stay the night in a local hotel and have them look at the car Sunday morning. Sorry but this raised some red flags with me and I'll be contacting the ins. co. tomorrow! And longest 3hr drive home I've ever had..driver was falling asleep and at points along 95S, 87N, 287S and 78W was crossing from slow lane to fast lane and actually hit the guardrail just after we crossed the Tappanzee Bridge! His fiancee was riding along and would poke him from time to time. At several points I was ready to tell him to pull over and drop my car and I'd just make other arrangements. Thankfully we all arrived home safely!!!! I'll be mentioning that to insurance as well!

Got to the mechanics at 11:30 and paid the bill of $769.50 and took our son's friend home and then came home and crashed. Lights, radio worked just fine while we were sitting on the shoulder so I'm thinking fuel pump or timing belt?!

Sorry for the rant and Happy Mom's day to all the mom's out there!!!

Man that sucks, I really hope your insurance compensates you. That sounds like a really sketchy situation :(

I'd be surprised if it was a fuel issue. The CEL code will be a good place to start. It could be something as simple as a bad crank/cam position sensor...

so i finally gave the p5 a wash and dry yesterday. for those of you with hard water, i bought this filter for use with the hose and it did an amazing job with giving me clean water that wont leave spots
https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned)

also hung the mazda flag and my bikes to give me some more room in the garage for the car. next weekend ill hopefully have my wheel spacers painted as they are just regular steel and install those. cant wait!

Thanks and phone calls have been made, all I can do now is wait. Def. seems sketchy and sad when people try to take advantage of others when they are most in need.

Yeah, more and more thinking it's timing as it didn't herk and jerk at all, just died. She's at the mechanics now and if it's just the sensor, it's one helluva an expensive one. lol

On the lighter side, got a call from the mechanic's a little while ago. Thought they were calling to update but wanted to verify it wasn't a new car they were seeing for the first time. After confirming a couple of times that it was the same the girl responds 'so it is a Protege?'. That's when it hit me....they were looking at the 323F badge on the hatch. lol

did the 1.8 coil conversion and while i was at it i painted the new valve cover with wrinkle paint. and sanded the mazda and the dohc with 800 grit . it was a pita cus u paint it give it 2 hours to wrinkle if it dont wrinkle paint again give 2 more hours and if it dont wrinkle again u repeat the process. it took me a whole week of paint n let sit in between work it has about 8 coats on it now. Then after when its done u cannot handle it for 48 hours according to the can. but it came out good and im pretty happy with it.
