The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

So I pulled up to the drummers house for this new band I'm auditioning/rehearsing for and what's parked in his driveway? A Mazdaspeed6. Yeah, we're pretty much best friends now. And he's a good drummer.

Phen, I think that makes four of us musician/car guys in the world.

Almost as crazy as someone with the same name as you, that drives a Mazda, and plays the drums!! HAHA Except I'm not in a band and I'm not as good of a drummer as I once was.

I need an electric drum set, too bad they're really expensive. I never have time to play the drums these days and when I do, it's way too late. I don't think my neighbors would appreciate my drumming at 11pm HAHA. I get frustrated when I do actually get to play because I know I used to be able to play crazy rudiments and fills, but my hands just can't keep up. It's crazy how much muscle you lose when you don't play the drums every single day.

make that 5. ive been outta the game for a couple years but i used to wail on the trumpet, and i can play a mean bass line to some pick up blues.

in another note. I think i found the car im buying. 2007 ms3, 90000 miles mostly highway since the driver has a 30 mile drive to work every day, cobb tmic, RMM, TIP, Sure SRI, cobb bpv, and custom dump exhaust. one scratch that is about a centimeter long. no dents. no rust. 11000. If i can get approved for a loan this weekend its bye bye protege, hello ms3. the thing is a rocket though. ill get fuel pump internals, colder plugs, and a hypertech and ill be done with the car, keep it looking factory.

Welcome to the dark side MUHAHAHA.

I just hit 100,000 miles earlier this week. Not including damage from Ohio potholes, the car has been VERY reliable. And I'm not going to lie, I don't baby my car. I bought my car because it's fast and fun as hell. So I drive it like it was meant to be driven lol. Basically....I'm saying I beat the s*** out of the car and it takes it like a champ.

In other news...I purchased my FMIC yesterday and I'm going to be buying some Autotech HPFP internals today! I can't wait to experience this car in the summer and on track without the heat soak!

this all depends on if i can get an 11000 dollar loan with no credit. haha. my dad will cosign though so hopefully that works out...

Good luck! I had no credit when i bought my ms3 last summer, with no co-signer my rate was ridivulous, but i was able yo refinance through my credit union last month and saved a ton on interest and payments.

i hope my rate isnt ridiculous. i am going through a credit union too. but i have a cosigner.

hahaha I was talking about the same thing yesterday with Jamie and Jared (our 2 teamates from the karting event last year)
aside from tires, general maintenance (oil, plugs, bulbs) and a few self inflicted issues, my car has been incredibly reliable and i beat the living hell out of Whitney and she seems to LOVE it haha

Which FMIC kit?

I decided to be cheap and get the CXracing kit. Got it for $300 shipped, so even if it sucks, o well LOL. I haven't really read anything bad about it on the forums.

I basically got it for the tubing and I'm most likely going to end up swapping out the core for something else like a Treadstone or Godspeed. I doubt I'll ever be pushing over 300whp, so I didn't need a kit designed for high hp. This one should be good up to 400. I just need to get rid of the heat soak. Also, I don't have to modify anything for this kit. I didn't want to have to modify the crash bar or anything like that.

Exactly! I think tires are my biggest expense with this car. It sucks having to drive 30k a year.

Someone is looking for a beater?
1996 Ford Escort LX 4-dr. Hatchback, Auto, White with gray cloth, Ac. Alum.rims, nothing fancy just a great beater. Florida car with this year only time driven in snow. Get 30+ MPG all the time. 111,500 mi. This was my 96 yr. old mother-in law's car. Asking $1,800

The guy is on a different forum - cleveland area. PM me if you need his info.

My daughter is still looking for a car. Since you called it a good beater, you wouldn't trust it as a daily?

i mean, exhaust wrap is exhaust wrap. its cheap on ebay. you could probably buy slightly better stuff from DEI, but its up to you. when you apply it, make sure you wear long sleeves and gloves though. that fiberglass s*** itches like crazy

and dont bother getting anything thats dyed. i got black wrap, and it turned white after a week, in some places though. so now im stuck with header wrap that is any color between black and white, plus dirt.

not ture. some brands do hold water and ruin your headers quicker.

Thanks. Is there any specific brand I should get? Or just any wrap will do the job?

If you really want header wrap buy the DEI Kevlar stuff, its not full of fiberglass like the Fleabay crap and actually holds its shape and works for longer than 5 months. the old school Fiberglass stuff that needs to be soaked before applying and holds water/loses color is not what you want to use on anything that you like.
