Flav's Mazda Protege5

yikes i had no idea the rust was that bad! Also i saw your ad on kijiji? you are selling the P5?

uh oh, the secret is out.
It was more of a GI then selling it..
But I figure, if I'm gonna repair the rust.. I may as well keep it.. it's been good to me.
Now I just need to Turbo it (serious this time lol..)

That's true! Keep it and apply grease/rust proofing when everything is fixed. Mine hasn't gotten any worst since I got it so I believe it works. How many kms are on it? Might be a bad idea to turbo it unless you forge it

183,000kms. Its up in the air still, might do a compression test on it first and have A closer look at the engine before i go all in.

Yes sir. A friend of mine recommended this place to me, so well see how it looks in the next week!

If all goes well with this new job, then yes. What are you running for a turbo and ecu?

So, to start off this turbo build.. Going to replace the head gasket and timing belt. Also going to port/polish the air intake. Any other things i should be doing while the engine is apart?

just a clocked garrett t25 from an sr20 and an msp ecu. hopefully i'll be able to afford an ssafc by mid summer

Where did you get the t25? and when you say clocked, does that basically mean.. Have your oil return point down? :P What kind of numbers are you getting in HP? And how much boost are you running? Basically.. your car more less, I want (zombies) (lol)

i'll pm you

Just bought a P5 should meet up so you can give me pointers on modding lol. No idea what I'm doing

Holy sh*t!

Didn't expect to see any London'ers on here :)

Yeah sure, I'm pretty free for the next week.

Got the car back this past Monday from the body shop.
Pretty pleased over all with the lack on rust on the car now :P

I'll take some pictures of the same area and some overall car shots later tonight when I put my rim's/new mud flaps on.

I also did manage to squeeze in some time to fix the front suspension and get rid of that nasty clunk.. I can't believe just how bad my strut mounts/spring cups (is that right?) were until I took them out of the car.

Here's some pictures of the old and new:

Yeah....this is why you don't cut corners..
When I first lowered my car, I didn't want to wait.. I didn't want to spend more money and just used my stock mounts/cups which were already bad. Not this bad, but still.. Never again.

Car sounds a lot quieter and I wont need to worry about it falling apart on some train tracks :)

Here are the updated pics of the car after its body work, and much needed wash :)
Also put my rim's back on and my Rally armor mud flaps (Thanks Rico)
