DRL replacement

I stuck them together not realizing how hot the decoder can get. It's got screw holes on it so I assume you can mount it somewhere so it's probably fine away from everything. Nothing else appears to be damaged.

I'm seeing if they will send me replacement parts so I don't have to buy it again.

I'll post a picture when I get home.

hopefully it's not something wrong with the design, mine is on the way lol...
is there anyway not to mount it and let it hang somewhere?

I choose not to let it hang because I didn't want it rattling around. It's not the design, it's just that I had the decoder, which runs extremely hot, right up next to this wire.

i dont think its a decoder, its a step up transformer to change the lower drl voltage to 12v for the bulbs (not sure what it does when it gets the highbeam full 12v)

ah that does not look too good...how big is the decoder thing?
I guess I will have to find a way to put the decoder somewhere without melting anything....

Is there other vendors sell decoder works with CX-5 non-tech pack DRL? ijdmtoy sells only the decoder without the SMD bulbs but price is higher than average online sellers

Choose option R1 for CX-5 non-tech pack

$29.99 + Shipping

After much debate, and me telling them they were stupid, IJDMTOY is sending me replacement parts free of charge. So we will see what happens when I get it installed and working again.

It's about the size of a 4x2 Lego brick. There are mounting holes on it but it doesn't come with screws...

i am not sure where can it be mounted to? i see no point of mounting it on plastic surface as it might melt the plastic again...but how can we mounted it on to metal surface lol..

@madugo @Unsullied

keep us posted when you install the decoder and SMD bulbs. I think many of the CX-5 non-tech owners want to upgrade their stock yellowish DRL

After looking a little closer I discovered that the wire on the resistor is also melted. Sending that back as well.

so mine arrived today, the cord that holds both leds has 3 blue plugs on it, is one of them suppose to be just left out? just want to make sure before i plug it into the car...

Not sure what the third plug is for. I guess it's just extra.

didn't yours come with the third plug? also does it matter which side of the headlight decoder thing plug to?
do you think it could be that you plugged the decoder on the wrong side to made it really hot and melted the wires?

installed it this morning...very simple plug and play...everything works good so far and i found a place to mount the decoder, just with some scotch permanent mounting tape and it stick on the driver side frame pretty good..will keep an eye on the decoder heat issue and see if it will cost any problem....

after some driving today seems like mine decoder does not get too hot at all....
i wonder if you have done a really long trip maybe the decoder you got was defective?
the plastic slave thing protecting the blue and red wires has printing on there says it can withstand 105c i think.

My replacement parts finally arrived and I got everything set up properly now. I zip tied the resistor to that support bar on the side. No wires or zip ties are anywhere near it so nothing will melt this time around.

Also, the resistor doesn't get hot at all now, so I may have had a faulty part the first time around.
