safe boost

Iv read a lot on the forum but I'm curious about this still.

With supporting mods and a safe ssafc tune would occasionally running 10-12 psi be ok?
8psi is a tease anymore... Ha

I understand this will have a lot of variables but I'm curious what everyone's opinion is.

^ Unlikely... You know that this is not a constructive post. The reality is that even stock boost is not safe.

The rods are made of Drywall Compound, and the ECU is flawed to say the least.

The Engine has run for some people for years on 10 PSI and then there are some that blow up as soon as they go from 7 PSI to 8 PSI

The engine is weak, increasing the boost increases the likeliness that it will fail. If you are able to accept that and are willing to replace the engine when it does blow up, then I suggest getting some supporting mods and upping the boost to 10, No More.

If you currently drive like a fucknut, then NO leave your boost alone. If not then I can tell you that I have had no problem doing what you are asking about. I'm the original owner with over 99,000 miles rolled. My engine is strong, burns no oil and makes no noise. Most importantly it has no holes in the block and the drivetrain is still 100% like it came from Japan. Only a flashed PCM and no DSM AFC or other unit.

I would not pass 8psi until you upgrade the exhaust and intercooler. Then I wouldn't run more than 10.

Fair enough, I appreciate everyones answers.

Looks like ill stick with 8 psi and keep saving for a different platform.

Dont get me wrong, I love the car to pieces... But I will get bored of 8psi eventually lol

Turn the boost up then, I run 10psi on the stock block, ebay fmic and catless midpipe.

or just build the block, a good ems fmic and exhuast and turn the boost up to 14psi i believe is the t25 max efficiency

i am pretty certain that i wont be going forged with this car. too expensive just to have a fast fwd car lol. idk though i might have a change of heart eventually

all I have to say is, yes you will get bored. But once you start adding more bolt ons, the car will feel like a whole new car even at the same boost level. Get the required mods to run 10 psi to include tuning and you will be surprised. I was a little surprised at how my car performed after adding intake, exhaust, FMIC and the SSAFC at the time. Moving on to bigger and better things now though....lol. Can't wait

yeah i need to pull my turbo and replace my studs and get my pope/corksport tbe in, i was kinda hoping to wait till the weather got better just to keep the road salts off my brand new exhaust lol

get supporting mods or build the block, if you do it right like me you can make good power at moderately low boost. example im making 304hp at wheels on 13lbs. but if you just turn the boost up your gonna spend more money fixing s*** and replacing things than to do it right the first time.

what are your mods if you don't mind me asking? Do you have a build thread?

no im getting ready to start a build thread but ive never posted pics or anything of my car on here, im waiting to hopefully blow ppl away with a random MOM win lol. forged k1 rods weisco pistons, arp head studs, garret t28rs, custom 3 inch DP, 80mm corksport exhaust all the way, no cat no res. custom 4 to 1 turbo mani, turbonetics external WGA, hks bov, FMIC custom tigged, ron racing radiator, 440cc injectors, ssafc, manual boost controller, injen cai, 7lb flywheel, exedy full disk stage 3 clutch, ss clutch line, weapon r engine dampner, upgraded welded lsd, all proper gauges, ebc blacks brake kit, all braided brake lines, extended lugs, suspension.. d2rs coilovers, adjustable endlinks, 20mm spacers, roll and pull fenders. idk thats what i thought of off hand. i need to sit down and write it out. im the guy that gets on here for info but its time to give back.

so you are built running a SSAFC and no timing control? You should really get something with timing control on a built motor. You will gain even more power out of it

ya thats my next goal, honestly i want to go haltec, so im gonna save and go that rought, no timing but surprisingly my tune and mapping looks really good and it runs strong. it took 3 full days of dyno to get it where its at but for now its strong and i dont want any more power till i get my trans built. all i have now is new stock gears and upgraded welded diff for streangth.
