safe boost

no im getting ready to start a build thread but ive never posted pics or anything of my car on here, im waiting to hopefully blow ppl away with a random MOM win lol. forged k1 rods weisco pistons, arp head studs, garret t28rs, custom 3 inch DP, 80mm corksport exhaust all the way, no cat no res. custom 4 to 1 turbo mani, turbonetics external WGA, hks bov, FMIC custom tigged, ron racing radiator, 440cc injectors, ssafc, manual boost controller, injen cai, 7lb flywheel, exedy full disk stage 3 clutch, ss clutch line, weapon r engine dampner, upgraded welded lsd, all proper gauges, ebc blacks brake kit, all braided brake lines, extended lugs, suspension.. d2rs coilovers, adjustable endlinks, 20mm spacers, roll and pull fenders. idk thats what i thought of off hand. i need to sit down and write it out. im the guy that gets on here for info but its time to give back.

Where did you get your performance internals at. Iv been looking continually for quite a long time.

^^^^^ SAME HERE LOL. and of course ill give credit and thanks to everyone whos been helpful over the years years of experience info.

and to the OP. listen to what mario says (Spiced MSP) been following him on FB for idk how long now and hes always had fun with his car tuned on a ssafc and all bolt ons and now he cant wait to unleash the true power of that gt30 he has in his engine bay now. (drive2)

From what I have seen through these cars, I would not run anything over stockish boost without rods. When mine blew up, I took the block apart to find that toothpicks held the piston to the crank. I am going to get my new engine tuned for the LOWEST boost possible and see how long that lasts on the next engine...

do you have any head work with those numbers?

here is a link for the K-1 rods....pistons, just search wiesco pistons for our cars and you will find enough places that sell them

Not to try and turn this thread around again, but these threads almost always dead end without a quick explanation of a few things.

Boost isn't a relative measurement of what an FS engine can take...boost is simply the pressure increase over ambient air, but it doesn't give you critical information like total flow, tuning, etc...so one engine may be fine with X boost, while another isn't close to fine...

so the reality is there isn't a single target that the FS can handle...it can make pretty decent power when tuned properly even on stock internals...but considering the engine still has multiple options for WAY better internal parts, at ridiculously low prices compared to other engines, its almost not worth even trying on the stock parts...

the general rule of thumb for forced induction is that you should reach your whp goal with as little assistance as possible...meaning, with as little boost as possible...300whp at 15 psi of boost versus 300whp at 30 psi boost...you can clearly see the latter engine is much less efficient (its a fake example, but the point is clear)...that lack of power efficiency is being turned into heat somewhere...instead of power...and more heat is the last thing you want with forced induction...obviously its more complicated than this, as the power per boost ratio is usually directly related to the turbo (and you'll be fighting lag, etc.)...but generally its 'safer' to get your power goals through efficiency, not through just pressurizing everything as much as possible to get the output you're looking for...

agreed, new dyno puts me 297hp at 13lbs. (mj)

ok well if someone can change the title of this thread then that'd be sweet!

all I have to say is, yes you will get bored. But once you start adding more bolt ons, the car will feel like a whole new car even at the same boost level. Get the required mods to run 10 psi to include tuning and you will be surprised. I was a little surprised at how my car performed after adding intake, exhaust, FMIC and the SSAFC at the time. Moving on to bigger and better things now though....lol. Can't wait

What is FMIC AND SSAFC?

Front Mount Intercooler
The SS is something but the "AFC" is Air Fuel Controller (Simplistic way to modify fuel injector duty)
