So I started using penzoil platinum 5w-30 in my ms3. When I buy it at the store I get the 5.1 jug and a one quart bottle and put it all in when I do an oil change. So a total of 6.1 quarts.

Is this too much oil to put in or would I be fine?

I'm using the spin-on conversion and the Mazda truck filter. It takes right at six quarts to bring it to the full mark. The capacity is six quarts, but the refill amount will be a hair less. Not all the oil drains out.

Is there any danger with having a little bit extra oil in? Right now it shows above the full line.

Too much oil can cause bearing problems, yes. If you're 1/10th of a quart high, that's not bad. If you're much more than that, I'd pop off the oil filter real quick and let some drain out.

Funny, I notice better lot's when I'm at the full point of the dipstick. But I get too paranoid I might blow the engine or something, so I drain until I'm below the full mark. I check it everyday for about a week after a change. Than about once every couple weeks after that...
