My windshield cracked...lol

So I was driving to the gym. Had the front windshield defroster blasting. All of a sudden I hear a crack noise coming from the middle of the windshield. Then I see a crack moving slowly to the right, then another line to the left. I could her the cracking too, it was quite fascinating. Then it stopped once it reached down to both ends. It was quite amusing. Well, saturday I have an appt. with SafeLite to have it replaced. What can I say.

Funny you mention windshield, I was driving NB on I-287 here in Central NJ the other night, I was in the hammer lane doing about 65-70, no cars in front of me or in back of me, but there were cars on the SB side, and I remember passing a couple of cars on the opposite side of the road when I hear a WHHAAAMMMMM!!!!

I honestly thought my windshield was ruined, it had to break with that kind of sound it made. That night when I got home, for sure, I had the tell-tale chips in the windshield on the driver's side, and just above that it slightly chipped the paint that's right above the windshield. I am not happy. Welcome to New Jersey. At least it didn't crack. That must've been a meteor from the other side of the road. (bang)

Drive left, pass right

or

Keep right except to pass

Thank you for your assistance.

You forgot, "Keep your elbows off the table" and "Don't forget to flush".

I didn't tell you the whole story because it's besides the point, but for you wanna-be Internet (five-0), I had just finished passing a car that was in the middle lane doing like 50mph. I'm 34 y/o with a clean driving record, and I used to drive commercial vehicles, believe me, I know a lot more about driving, MV laws and DOT regulations than you do.

I am from Upstate NY, we have snow all the time in winter, so I know how to drive in hazardous weather, highway or regular roads.
Also, have a perfect driving record and have not had accidents of my fault so far, knock on wood and 31 years old.
I did get rear ended by a motocycle before, Harley to be exact, when I had another car, go figure that.

My windshield cracked last summer when a stone hit it while I was driving down the freeway. I was mad but it was kinda cool to see the crack in the glass spreading right in front of my eyes. Good thing my insurance covered it

Damn ukulele you either have a short fuse or you just like to bust people's balls. Almost all your post you seem hostile. Tone it down homie. We're all here because we drive or own the same vehicle and we are sharing info or helping each other out. No need for all this flaming. End of rant....

Whoa, this fusion of the forums has brought some excitement to my daily venture to Mazdas247.

I think unless someone is talking about driving dangerously, we might want to keep our ideas on driving ethics to ourselves. It's impossible for the author to qualify everything about the situation, so we will have missing info and possibly come to incorrect conclusions. Some of us can make a point or ask for clarification in a light and humorous way, while others of us, like me, sound like mom and dad when we ask. I try to keep my mouth shut.

Just a suggestion guys.

Do you think maybe you had a small rock tap that went wild when the temperature extremes came into play? It's hard to imagine it just cracking like that out of nowhere.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

I think you are absolutely right Robotaz because I can see a starting point where it all began, and then it was like the Big Bang, down both sides. Tommorow is my Safelite appt. for a replacement.

LoL

I agree. In the immortal words of every 7 year old that has ever lived.... "He started it!"

Guys... i like this forum because we are all adults here...

that being said, rodslinger is from georgia... i lived in georgia for 5 months... they drive like it is nascar all the time there.

and he is right... keep right... unless you are in georgia... then stay somewhere in the middle out of the truck lanes where they are going 80+.

and i hate that sound... when something hits the windshield. like a gun going off in the car.

Sounds similar, last summer it was incredibly humid. We had brought a 64 valiant back from California and it was sitting in the other bay of the garage. We are working on the car in bay 1 and all of the sudden the rear window of the valiant EXPLODED! Looking closely there was a small imperfection that appears to have just been enough to fail when it was so humid. Glass can be weird!

Luckily insurance covers windshields most of the time.
