Candy!!!! Anyway...best $59 EVER thrown into ANY vehicle. The shifting is amazing, it leaves me grinning ear to ear. I have a terrible habit of releasing the clutch too quickly, so the quicker shifting helps me drive smoother. Once again, the shifting is amazing, better than any vehicle I have ever driven...maybe even a miata. Installation is super easy too. As for the problem with it slipping off, I stole Gravity's idea and drilled a hole and put a small bolt in it. I also have a zip tie in the glove compartment just in case. I believe CS will be able to easily remedy the problem with a hole and a small bolt.
Just a thought- I covered the stock ball stud with grease and wrapped it with teflon tape, and wrapped that in electrical tape. Hopefully this will prevent it from rusting in case I ever need to revert to stock.

From what we can gather is there must be some inconsistencies with the machining on the arms which we have not hit on the cars we have installed the plate on. I know 2 people called in and we have the information with our engineer for them, was there anyone else who has not called us?

I know that cs is on it. But mine will be here soon and I think I came up with an easy fix without drilling into anything. Even if mine works perfect it will give me peace of mind.
Now if someone can tell me some measurements. I need to know the size of the hole in the plate that sites over the existing ball. Need the skinnest part of the ball. And the largest part of the ball.
Would need the above measurements so I have everything on hand to try my fix. I will post up pics of it when I finish.

Well everybody including myself is very happy with the product, I thought that since you are on this forum so often, by posting good pictures this would have generate some kind of response from you , what am i going to tell you on the phone besides : look at the pictures I posted ?

I noticed since removing and reinstalling the battery for this install that my auto-up, down, and crack drivers window function no longer works. On one hand those those "extras" always frustrated me, but on the other hand its something in the electrical system that just stopped functioning because of a battery reset. Weird.
More on topic, after a couple days of driving around I am loving the shorter shifting. Shortly after purchasing the car I had a couple of grinding shifts because the stock throws were a little longer than I was used to. Certainly won't have that problem now!! The reduction in shift throw feels more like 45%. Although I like the extra effort needed to shift, it does take a little getting used to since the stocker was so effortless. And no problems thus far with movement of the shift plate...seems rock solid.

I totally agree. Lovin' the shifter too. Pretty dramatic difference in the throw. The battery disconnect does reset the windows for some reason. Quick fix: Roll the window all the way down, hold button for 3 to 5 seconds, roll window all the way up, hold button for 3 to 5 seconds. This should reset it back to the auto up-down, etc.
easiest solution I see is a hole with an extra bolt through both shifter arms!
OR a slight redesign like this:
(Scale is way off but you get the general idea

built in clamping plate BUT I haven't had a look to check clearances needed for the extra bolts etc.

So has anybody tried this with a shift lever extension yet? One of the big things I've been wanting to do on the 2 is get the shift knob higher, and the plate should make up for the extra length pretty well.

Just got back from my test drive with my new cs short shifter. Very nice! And with the awr dogbone it feels great.
Now for the problem. Maybe this happened to you guys but didn't notice. I put the plate on and it appeared to fit fine. So git my big paws in there and got the nut on. Then started tightening. At some point the plate turned slightly overlaping the silver ball base. Now I think it may have been like that when I started tightening and bent the part of the plate that bolts onto the factory arm. Or at least that is what I think happened. Put a ss hose clamp on it for now. And seems to be working fine. I take responsibility for my issue.
So dors anyone else think this could have happened to them? If so maybe a thinker plate could stop this in the future.

Yes I have. No shoft shift plate, but the shifting was soo effortless with an extension, and a heavy knob, that you could pretty much pop it out of gear without a clutch, at a decent amount of travelling speed.
*(those pics were with an extension that was made for Honda's thread/pitch rather than Mazda's).
