2012 CX-9 seat upholstery replacement

Hi, Has anybody tried to replace the factory cloth(or leather) upholstery by yourself? If so how easy were they? THanks!

Not in a CX-9, but I have in other vehicles. It depends a lot on the seats themselves. It's not too bad if the seats are relatively simple, and not too large. I would think the rear seats would be difficult. The seats must be removed from the vehicle and disassembled into individual parts.

I had mine done before I took delivery of it. (2010) Once I saw them, I realized I could have done it. They zip on, and have a very well hidden zipper. Cost was 1500 buckaroos for all three rows, and the little stuff around the cabin, like arm rests. Mine has a lifetime guarantee.

Thanks for the info, drchuck-. Yeah, I heard about the zipper, so I thought I could do it myself. The zipper for the upholstery itself is a great feature, actually. I have little kids, who would most likely mess up the seats sooner or later, so I will probably need to replace upholstery by myself in the future as well. I see a few online stores selling OEM factory upholstery for a lot less price. It looks way better than 3rd party seat covers that you put on top of the seat.

Yep, mine are long gone - oldest is now 49 - but I would have loved to have that option back in the '60's. I had four, and they crushed every kind of crumb available into the upholstery!
