2012 Mazda CX9
Hi all. We just bought our new to us '12 CX9. Traded in our '04 Pacifica for the Mazda. This is our first Japanese vehicle and was just wondering how everyone likes there CX9. When we bought the Pacifica we were considering the CX9 back then. We probably should have.Thnx

Thnx. Would love to see some pictures of your CX-9. Read all of your add-ons and I am real interested on how the side moldings and mud flaps look.

Good investment - get them both. Maars, welcome!

It's interesting that out of MANY Japanese brands I have owned, the CX-9 is one of only a few that are 100% Japan built. Most brands like Toyota and Honda have their cars assembled in or near the states, so it's uncommon to see Japanese auto workmanship these days.

I understand that our Mazdas share many components and design traits with Ford vehicles, but I have no complaints about the fit and finish of my 2012 CX-9.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have.

maars5ha, welcome!

We all love our CX-9's on here except for 2 guys on here that have lemons lol. Post some pictures of your CX-9 in the pictures thread!

Thnx for the replies. We love it so far. I need to find part number for clips that hold on the rear black trim around the rear wheel well. It came off in a car wash.

It came off in a car wash.

You take your car through a carwash?(confused)

Just kidding. Congrats on your car, and congrats on getting out of that Chrysler :o. These things are pretty nice. First Mazda we've ever owned, and I was skeptical at first, but after almost a year and a half of ownership, we are very pleased with it. Our 2011 only has 12k miles on it, so I can't report on long term yet, but so far it has been flawless. Ours is just the mid-level Touring model, so it doesn't have some of the bells and whistles of the GT, but its probably the nicest car we've owned. Good luck with it!

It's a great hauler.

I use a brushless autowash every month. This thinks too big to wash. I'm over 6' but I can't reach the roof!

I have a small 3 step ladder that i use sometimes. I stand on the tires if I'm too lazy to take the ladder out.

I used to take my other truck to the carwash. Then I got tired of seeing the damage the "soft brushes" were doing, so I started going to a touch-less wash...which are useless on a black vehicle. Anyway, the last time I took it through a touch-less wash, it ruined my grill! I don't know wtf was sprayed out of those nozzles, but it ate right through the clear coat on a new aftermarket grill that I had recently installed. That was the last time ever, that any of my vehicles will ever go to any kind of carwash.

And, my next vehicle will be silver :) I don't have time to wash a big black truck every single weekend.

Hi, new to the forum and the CX-9 also. Just traded in my wife's 04 Honda Odyssey EXL RES for a 2012 CX-9 GT yesterday on a bit of an impulse. I love the way the CX-9 drives compared to the Ody! I won't mind driving her car now when were all going somewhere together. Ordered the OEM splash guards and Weather Tech digifit mats for winters here in Chicago land. Anything else to consider right away.

Hey there JJ. Guess you'll get to try the car in snow this week... got AWD?

On the subject of add-ons - the weathertech cargo mats are amazing. Add protective moulding as soon as you can.

On the subject of colors - white has been super easy to maintain. Stays clean looking and I don't have to wreck my back trying to keep the mirror finish perfect.

Hi Holoholo, yep, it's AWD and we were out tonight in the sleet and gave it a little test. It's hard getting used to how quiet it is inside.

Hey there J&J's dad. May want to consider a 3M clear hood protector on the leading edge of the hood, saves it from rock chips. Mazdas don't have thickest paint.

I see you are in Lindenhurst. I grew up in Ingleside (next to Round Lake). I loved Chicago. Wilmot Mountain, Lake Michigan, Gurnee Mills / Six Flags, The City, was a great place to grow up as a teenager!

Funny you mention that. I've owned some very quite cars, but this one bothers me for some reason.

Other than the commanding view of all the "little people", I feel very isolated/insulated from traffic sounds and often crack the window or sunroof for a little audible feedback.

Oh,.. and Happy (birthday) JJD! I'm glad you joined the forum.

Thanks guys! I really liked growing up in this area also. So much so that after being out in California for 11 years after High school, I came back (My wife thinks it was just for her, of course). That's funny, we're planning a trip to Wilmot with the kids soon to try some snowboarding. I have to be honest though, I'd rather be where Holoholo is right about now! I'll look into the 3M hood protector, although my wife primarily uses the CX-9 for her 5 mile 'commute' to work... I assume we'll be using it for some road trip vacations at some point though. You guys have already been a wealth of information for a newbie! I've already added the splash guards, and WeatherTech mats, and I have the extra smart key on the way already to avoid ever having to use the dealer for programming another key. I prefer the vehicle purchase to be the last time I ever see the dealer whenever possible!

So Impressed.

Just got my 2012 in Mica Blue in Libertyville and I am so impressed. Been driving an Escape and needed more space and 7 seats (and less rust - long story). Took it for trip to the Dells right after we got it and the rain sensor wipers were a blessing. Is this a sports car? Sure drives like one. Looking forward to my first trip to the Stage Stop in Wilmot to have a great steak and celebrate!

Be careful. Someone here will tell you that his Avalon handles way better than your "sporty" CX9.....

Welcome.
