Got up to 18C here in southern Ontario today and noticed the CX-5 was A LOT more agile and dynamic compared to the past couple a days and week or so where it was in the single digits.

I find the car performs better when it's a bit cooler out for me at least. It usually feels a bit better at night compared to day time driving.

Yep, and when magazines test cars in 90F+ temperatures, it's obvious in acceleration times like 0-60 and quarter mile. Modern engines are designed to adjust in those conditions to avoid destruction, and that's not good for straight line performance.

Just be glad you are not at high altitude like some owners in Colorado for example, that has a huge impact.

Certainly isn't surprising, especially on these engines.

High compression on regular gasoline likely made for pretty conservative timing on the factory "tune", in an effort to avoid pinging in higher temperatures.

In cooler temps (not cold), the stock tune probably allows for more significant timing advance, as intake temp then has less of an effect on overheated air charge in the cylinder.

The colder the air, the more dense the air. because the EFI knows the temperature of the incoming air, it will inject more fuel at the same throttle opening. More fuel and more air equals more power.
