I don't think you can. I've never seen the stock smic piping but I'm assuming its sucky spastic. You need something hard to clamp a coupler on. Ideally you want the maf 1ft away from the throttle body
What are the symptoms? Have you checked for a vacuum leak?
Did you do a smoke test on the vacuum lines? Did you check for any leaks around the maf area? Do you have a cel?
Didn't check any of the vacuum lines, but did it throught both the exhaust pipe and into the exhaust manifold from the o2 bung. And no, I didn't check the MAF area for leaks. I've just noticed that while driving and when I left off the gas, the car bogs and I can hear a whistling noise. As for the cel, it will come on and off for a couple days at a time but haven't checked it.
I think the whistle is usually from a stud or 2 missing from the exhaust manifold
It could effect the idle in that if the leak is drawing air into the exhaust manifold, it would make the O2 sensor read falsely lean, which would cause the ECU to richen the mixture up to the point that it could effect idle quality.
What's more likey is that you have a vac leak somewhere and it's running too lean and causing the hesitation.
Right, and that's exactly what I have going on. Is that enough to mess with the idle though?
I think if its missing bolts it could affect ur idle. I would pull of the exhaust manifold and replace and rusted studs. Also replace the exhaust manifold gasket. Than just buy a vacume line kit from crossover and replace as many as u can there probably all dried and cracked anyways if u still got the stock vacume lines. How many km does ur speed have?
Easiest way is to hook up smoke to the port on the very top of the intake manifold where the vac line to the cruise control hooks up. I can almost bet that that's gonna be your problem. When you let off the gas is when vacuum kicks in. If you have no hesitation while your foot is on the gas, only when you let the gas go that's gotta be your problem.
the msp has cruise control????!!!!
without recirculating a bov, your car will stall. Unless your MAF is relocated.
