What all did you remove to get to it?
Just the EGR, but my heatshield was already off from when I did the O2 sensor.
i cna't believe you guys are not doing this under 45 minutes..
3hrs?
damn!
what are you guys encountering as far as problems?
I did everything topside.. nearly impossible is not impossible.Well part out of my problem was that I couldn't even get the bolts off holding the heatshield to the j-pipe. They were so rusted nothing could get em off. And getting to the second bolt holding the wastegate to the bracket was nearly impossible to reach from above.
I did everything topside.. nearly impossible is not impossible.
Like I said, 3 hour job, busted a few knuckles, I'm not going to say it was fun, but it was a lot better than risking snapping studs, etc. in my opinion.
hehe, sucks for you and all that salt on the streets
that's why i am going external wastegate./...**** replacing this bad ass wastegate every 6 months
+1 I'm on my 4th or 5th wga and I want to go ewg
What does it take to convert, and what are the advantages?
Weld in another path from your manifold to the exhaust, put a wastegate in the middle of that path, and connect to a vac source, then disable the internal. Easy Peasy... kinda.
Advantages: better/more consistent boost control, smoother exhaust flow behind turbo, ability to adjust boost pressure without creating boost spikes with a controller
