Finally got a head-on pic to show how a Drag DR31 (18x8" 48mm offset) with a 225/40ZR18 tire sits relative to the fender. Thanks to the OP and contributing members in this thread that helped me select the wheel/tire size, offset and width that suited my needs.

Hey Turbohatch, did you get those window visors from Ebay, sent from Singapore or something? How are they holding up? Do you notice any increase wind noise in highway speed?

@whyandrew: yes, from eBay shipped speedpost from Singapore in only 8 days!

They're holding up well considering they're only held on using 3M tape and add no discernible wind noise. I like them because they were low profile, cheap ($50 shipped) and I saw someone else here has these.

What I didn't realize until I got them was that they are not tinted, but fully black and they come with a cheesy silk screened M5 fittiment stamp and logo. I'll probably sand/polish the logo off when I get a chance.

I used H&R springs for a Mazda5 (many use Mazda3 springs for a lower drop) based on the car being the wife's DD and not wanting any issues with clearing speed bumps or ramps/driveways. Plus i knew she wouldn't bother/remember to crawl over them and cut angles to not scrape.

The urethane lip was purchased from an eBay retailer:Xcess motors. It required some massaging with a heat gun to fit.

I would be going with stock set up, no drop or anything, with 17" +35 offset. Would that work out w/o rubbing issues or wheels sticking out too much from the fender?

+35 on the stock suspension settings will put you about 5-6mm outside the fender.

Turbohatch, I assume you didn't need to roll the fenders? Do you think there's enough clearance for an offset of 45 versus the 48 you're using? ...all other specs being the same

No fender rolling required and zero rubbing with a fully loaded car.

I haven't measured the exact distance with a ruler, but there is a safe two finger gap between the fender and top of the tire.

The extra 3mm should be no problem in the back based on negative camber, the front may be close if your tire width (even with the same 225 sectional width) is wider based on the manufacturer measured tread width. I'd guess that this would only be an issue in the worst possible scenario where the car was fully loaded with adults, you were cornering hard.

the fronts are 17x7.5+35 the rears are 17x8.5 35 need to get a smaller tire or roll the rears a bit

That looks pimp!! When you get a chance, take some better pics. I rolled my rear, pulled them a little and my 9.5s clear.

BTW, I love that old school wheel too.

18x8.5 +32et -1.7 degree camber front
18x9.5 +32et -3.5 degree camber rear

play hard ball harder children of the stance...

for the agressive guys here:
8.5 width with a +45 et will give you about 2mm of strut clearance and be just about flush for the front...
9.5 width with a +40 et will fit with stock camber dialed in for the rear.. will it rub?? yes do moar camber to 2 degrees and you can lay it down like pornstar..
