Those are pretty normal.
is this the average quality of the welding on your manifolds?
Viralphrame,
Welds can always be ground down for that smooth look. I don't know if that will affect the integrity of the weld. However with that said i've seen far worse and I've seen far better welds. IMO they don't look to bad. Also keep in mind your not paying 900+ for a good manifold here. Not saying this isnt a good manifold by any means.
Edit: I've seen his welds in person and im not worried about them at all.
Does this work Speedpx?

sorry man but from another tig welder here, i can see your getting oxidation through the backside of your welds there.. easy to grind down inside where you can see but not every weld will be accessible.. the solution is to tape up every gap as well as both ends after the manifold is tacked up and fill the thing with backing gas. argon is what i prefer. with the gas inside (displacing oxygen) you will get a beautiful smooth weld as you should
My thoughts exactly. Manifold looks great but the welds on the inside will cause turbulence unless smoothed out.
Hey Pope, whats the list looking like the next yet of mani's being made? (in other words, where am I on the list lol) thanks
I use argon, but have no luck shielding the back of the weld because each runner has to be fabbed individually and I can't tape far enough from the heat to get it to last more than a couple seconds. I've looked into getting a small media blasting cabinet to weld in, but haven't made any final decisions.
I'm aware of the turbulence issue and that is why las week I asked Stealth to ship the manifold back to me so I can clean it up. I mistakenly shipped it before giving it the stamp of approval.
Its not the outside of the weld that matters.. you want the inside of the weld to be as smooth as the outside. obviously you can grind it smooth but you first need to ensure you have full penetration with a good back..

WOhooo!! can't wait! The list is as follows:
Stephen Kantarze - shipping tomorrow
Oggy Golub - Should ship Wednesday
Chris Wood - Ready for pickup on Saturday
Earle Lavely - Shipping around the 4th
Charles Volt, Max Sackerson, and Robert Arce shipping by July 11th. This is all orders filled within the next 2.5 weeks.
I did some experimenting on the manifold I built Saturday and found the sweet spot for enough heat to get full penetration without the oxidation. Problem solved.
