Lewis7789's 2003 Protege5 build thread

I swapped the K-Sport camber plates onto the BC Coilovers today.
Here's the BC's laid out in case anyone else is doing this swap;
And the K-Sport's laid out;
The camber plate bolts are just a tad too long. So I'm going to grind them down a bit tomorrow at work with the bench grinder.
You can see in the red squares where they go through the plate and touch the spring.
Then I pulled the speakers and replaced my stereo delete plate.

Since you are gutting everything, don't forget the stock sub.....
Might want to take those mats out too.... Those weigh a bit.

Hey Evan, when are you stripping the paint off the car to get it ready for that respray?
the ash tray and lighter too!
no, that orange thing in the background should be an engine hoist.
We're going to tackle it next weekend. The original paint is in such good shape, all I need to do is buzz over it with some 600, scuff it up, and shoot the new color. Piece of cake!

Hey Josh can you teach me some prep work? I've always wanted to learn how to do that kind of stuff. That is if Evan is cool with it...
Yea, it's cool! Body work is just like any other wrench session, just stop on out and take notes!
Actually, the more hands on deck, the quicker we'll get it done. I'll be sure to be the one to mask it off though, that takes some skill....we don't want a bunch of overspray everywhere!

What color you going with? My paint came out good for the first time I ever painted. However my helper sanded with the wrong paper and there's angle grinder marks all over the car.. Looks good from 15ft lol. Up close not so much .. Oh well after i build and boost it , it will be more of a sleeper lol. Your car is sweet and keep up the good work!

Well the head unit that was in there was pretty messed up and I didn't want to buy a new headunit so I just pulled everything out. I didn't have a stereo after the KL swap in my old P5 and I didn't mind one bit. I had the beautiful sound of the KL to listen to. Beside, I've got the Milly as my DD with a great stereo. The delete plate will get replaced with gauges when the swap goes in. It's looking like early June, after the Mazda corral at Mid-Ohio.
Again, if anyone is looking for a programmable ECU that won't completely drain your bank account for the KL, here's a great deal from MegaSquirt for $800. It's what I'll be using.
