Looks like they got 7HP out of the normal Mazda3's motor. Our 1.5 seems like it responds pretty well to mods, even the stock ECU makes 5HP with an intake, so with tuning for a CAI/SRI plus 91 gas, we could see a pretty decent gain considering we've only got 100HP to begin with. My biggest concern would be being able to switch between everyday 87 tuning and trackday 91 tuning. I'd love to get some more power in this car, but I still need it to be cheap to run on a daily basis.

Even if it's only 7 horses it'll be nice. With the weight of the Mazda 2, 7 extra horses is felt. If you combine that with other go fast parts like a header, intake and an exhaust system like Andres has done. It'll be a pretty quick car just with that. Look what Andres has done with his Mazda 2. I drove it myself and I could feel the difference. LINK

I won't buy premium gas just to gain an extra couple hp. Not worth it on a car like the 2. I'd think 15 might be a bit high to expect on a car with a base of 100hp. 15% gain out of a reflash of the ecu from a 100hp car just seems a bit far fetched, but would be awesome. Maybe with some supporting mods you might see close to that.

Those things get ridiculously expensive. The 2 has a lot of untapped potential. If I am shelling out money they better shell out the power.
Its only fair. lol

Yeah, that's how I feel. No header for me, and only an axleback exhaust, though. I'm willing to get an intake ticket and swap the stock one on to go get it inspected, but headers and an exhaust would make me way illegal here in CA and it'd be a nightmare to fix.

it's Commiefornia, and done, if it give ten hp that'd be great, now, if only we can get someone to do open source and not chips. I like to tune my own cars.

Well the responses to Font Motorsports sounds promising. Personally I think the rpm in 4th gear on the autos could be lower :\
