Need help with making calls from Phonebook

Hi All,

Just bought MY12 CX9 GT (top of the range here in Australia) last weekend and find some problem (that even the sales person cant help me with) with the SATNAV + bluetooth phone system.

Basically I've managed to "download" all the contacts on my iphone 4 to the SATNAV phonebook list. And I'm able to call them by going through some menu (quicker if I do it from the phone itself) which something like Menu --> BT PHone menu --> Phonebook --> Find the contact & click --> Click on the green button.

For safety reason, is there's a way to make a call from the buttons on the steering wheels? When I press the call button, it asked for a command. And when I say "Call" it says the phone book is empty. So wth is those 100s of entry shown in the "Phonebook" in the SATNAV screen? Is there two phonebooks on the system?

Thanks heaps for the help guys...

You have to manually assign each of your contacts a voice tag. So, you would have to go into a contact and record "Bill", so when you hit the phone button, you can say "Call Bill." The dealer told me you can also use the DIAL command for a number: "Dial 212-555-1212".

What tes2670 said ^^^.

Very stupid, I know, with BT technology available at home and such.

Another way you can do is to dial the calls from the phone with voice control (to the phone, not to CX9).
Once the call is made, the BT can maintain the communication (still hand-free calls).

The software on Android or iOS is decdes ahead of the software in auto-electronics.

Tex,
Thanks for the heads up on this. I added a couple of Voice Tags to the phonebook today.
Had a issue when I told the car to dial "Wife" and it would dial my Moms telephone, so hopefully this will fix the problem as I added tags on both of them..
