2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
I was putting the camshafts back on the head and one of them snapped in half. I've searched around and the cheapest I've found a new one is $175. Any ideas where i might find a cheaper one? Also are the cams from say a Mazda 3 interchangeable so I could use them on my Protege?

Thanks

I seen someone selling a set in the for sale section. Can't seem to find it. But it's in there somewhere

You can find the cams in any Junkyard, I would look into it more but for certain any 01-03 2.0L FSDE Protege will have the same cams. Earlier FSDE cars may as well such as the 626, MX-3/6 and Ford Probe.

did you follow the right torque sequence as well as using the right torque? Use lube on lobes, caps and journals? Just curious so it doesn't happen again.

what he said.

what were you doing right before it snapped? the engine rebuild manual and shop manual are very detailed when it comes to proper torque sequencing when installing the cams.

Found the cams at a junkyard on a 626. I didn't follow the sequence when I broke it, that was the problem.
