The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

You know that we can't be in SMF Adam. You'll need to put your factory AC back on and fluid washer bottle. Oh well on to the nect class. With the MSP I like functionality with looks. Will the MSP ever be a dedicated track car - Nope. Not worth the $$$ when I could buy something that was mad to fly around a track or autoX. I like mixing the aspects of racing with the funtionality of being able to drive it on the road. It's a good autoX car for certain classes, but I got into it because of meeting new people and the fun aspect. If I wanted to just be all about being cometitive I would just build a spec miata or a dedicated pro solo car. Hellafunctional FTW!

After screwing with the Miata, trying to find out why it wasn't working right... my passion is just driving it.

Modifying it to make it more fun to drive... AWESOME!
Tracking down gremlins that you can't figure out and it causes a **** ton of stress out of the blue... PASS!
That's why I like fabrication. No gremlins envolved. Just design, time, and some skillz. Oh and a whole lotta patience. Sometimes I've had to make a few different mock ups to come up with a piece then change that part after being used and find out how to make the ergonomics better. That's why I'm a art/desing major. Hopefully some of this hobby stuff just pays off in the future.

Here's my take: If you're building something a certain way because that's how you want it, that's cool and I have no problem with it.

But don't say "I'm building a racecar!" then forget that racing has rule sets.

SMF is pretty open, but as far as aero the only allowances you have are (i'm paraphrasing here):
1. Wings within size constraints, that can't extend beyond the sides of the body work, be more than 6" forward of the rear axle, or 6" above the roofline of the vehicle.
2. Canards are allowed, but can't exceed 15% of the wing area
3. Front splitters are allowed, have to be more or less parallel to the ground, can't go more than 6" from the front body work, and can't extend past the centerline of the front wheels.

In conclusion, if you are building it for SMF, you can't do a full belly pan or a rear diffuser. If you don't care, then go ahead and run XP or EM. But don't be "that guy" that gets mad because he can't keep up with this:

lol...

can someone confirm i would be in SM with my car because of the BOV? I only have BOV, TBI and a little more boost.

TBI? I'd have to check, SP rules have changed a little since I last looked. You may be in *SP. Not sure which. B or A. They've reshuffled a few things.

TBI = Throttle Body Intake

I was reading the rules and I would be in BSP but apparently the BOV bumps me to SM, even though it's not much of a performance improvement...

I wonder if the corksport skid tray would put me in that class, although I might be there already. I wouldn't be able to compete in enough events for it to matter what place I come in.

We've had that discussion before. They consider it to be a boost modifier. You'd be SSM.

anyone interested in a set of mazda3 black and red front seats?? just landed me a set of ms3 seats, so my oem ones arent needed anymore

ill give you tree fitty.

sold!! to the loch ness monster HAHA

the seats have better bolstering than proteges and might be a very nice upgrade to a protege guy. not completely sure on what it would take to fit them but i cant imagine its too too hard, scratchnsniff had 3 seats in his protege so we atleast know they capable of fitting in the protege

So did Rogue. They're not *hard* to fit, you just need to fab up brackets for it.

Protege seats suuuuuuck and I'm sure you would sell them for a good price, Levi. I'm going with aftermarket seats down the road with a 5 point harness or else I would ask how much. :)

How much you askin Levi? I already have aftermarket seats, but just curious.
