I'm pretty sure it needs a tune and a new set of tires... but its in good shape and runs well.

Let me know what you think.

Wow that thing is spotless. Really clean MSP, welcome to the club. Looks like it has an upgraded SMIC and hardpipes with a dual valve setup and a (real) Greddy VTA. That also appears to be a Mental Addiction Motorsports (MAM) exhaust manifold which is no longer made and one of the better made manis. You will have better driveability if you move the MAF to the cold pipe after the BOV. You can also adjust the Greddy and get rid of the BPV. It is in the stock tune? I'd bet the car has had a piggyback ECU on it at some point. It's missing the stock engine cover
What exhaust is on it?

It was the only MSP in the area for sale. I have no idea what has been done, but its in really good shape. It needs a tune badly, it only revs to 5,500 at about 10psi then cuts. It also has a 3" downpipe to a stock Mazdaspeed exhaust and an electric cut out right after the downpipe. Also the rear end kinda clunks a bit when going over any bumps and the fog lights dont work so I think some electrical work needs to be done as well. Any idea so I can get a list of mods so when I take it to get tuned?

How do I find out what the production number is? Maybe the person that owned this was on the forums at some point... Any pic requests?

For the MSP you can't take it somewhere to have it 'tuned' you have to buy a piggyback or standalone EMS to tune the car. You can probably make the car run really well on the stock tune with the mods the car already has.

+1, Do a boost leak test on it and lower the boost back down to stockish. I bet thats why your hitting cut around 5-5.5k. Also these cars love to foul out the plugs. So change those.

#354 is the production number. I dont have a stand alone or piggy back, so looks like I need to use a stock tune then get a ems later when it gets tuned for power. Any tips since I am on a budget right now?

Sweet ride. A bit of a down grade from an RX-8 (debatable) but, still a super fun car to have and drive every day of the week!!!

Yeah I want to get it tuned so there are no problems while I am using it for a daily driver. I dont really care that it runs at 15psi if that is a safe boost level, but I just want it to run with out problems.

I am going to change the plugs this week end, and report on how it runs. I know it still needs a tune or the boost turned down or both... lol

About your clunking in back... That's probably your rear swar bar bushings that are finished. Had the same issue.

Unless it has forged internals 15psi IS NOT A SAFE LEVEL OF BOOST TO RUN ON AN FSDE!!

Lower it below 10 at least, preferably 7-8psi.

Also, that car is no downgrade from an RX-8. It actually has torque as well as more power and it handles as well if not better.
