Splaish Guard (Seems too good to be true)

Don't know. I put splash guards on my Maxima myself in 1999 (the same type as M2). Only recently (in January) donated it -- no rust there. Front right fender rusted where it was scraped by somebody when parking (and I was too lazy to prime/paint it). But near splash guards -- no problems.

I'd also argue that on Mazda2 it's the rear guards which are more or less useless: they protect somebody driving behind you, but on the car itself -- what's there to protect? Plastic bumper?

I feel I should have made some front ones before this happened:

It looks dirty but I took that pic RIGHT after I washed it. It's actually the clearcoat that got sandblasted by rocks/road debris. I have 29,000 miles but it started happening around 5k when I had the stickier tires mounted on OEM rims.

I agree the rears are useless...This was with 15x9's/225 tires flush with the quarter panel pretty much.
