What have you done to your MSP today?

+1

I spent way too much money on the car already and I wont ever see the end of it.. hell im still waiting on the 505 manifold :(
I've only had the MSP a year now, and I've spent more than I wanted on it anyway. I purchased it with the plan to keep it completely stock. I really haven't modified it at all, but I just look at it and think, "it has 170,000 miles on it, its an 03, and its a Mazda, why am I even doing this?" I love the car, and it was an "upgrade" from the P5, but it's just fast enough and handles well enough to make me want a better car. I have plans on building a motor for it and will probably do that because all I've got to do is pick up the FREE engine, buy the parts, and do it in my shop. That's another thing- if I didn't do what I do, I most definitely wouldn't own this car. If I had to pay someone to repair, service, or modify this car you could ******' forget it. I've replaced so many parts on the car and upgraded a few, but parts that are going to need replacing soon are going to add up- radiator, exhaust manifold, A/C compressor just to name a few.

Got code p0660 today. Isn't that vics related? Never had such a code and I've been running a 626 I'M for 3 years...
Yep. I had that DTC for the first six months I had the car, but it was only stored in the fault memory, never in present faults until suddenly out of the blue one day. I spent hours and hours trying to identify the problem and never could. At that same time I ended up replacing a lot of parts for maintenance, and it's been almost 6 months and that fault code has never returned.

Having problems with the slim fan and hot pipe clearance. Should hopefully be driving the car tonight. The straight water neck kit did not fit AT ALL. Was completely in the way of the hot pipe. I guess those kits are for SMIC setups, i'm not happy about wasting my time and money. Hopefully I can send it back.

They were designed to accomodate a bigger downpipe I believe but most that have them are fmic like mine! You should be able to loosen some couplers to shift it a little. Several have melted and blown radiator hoses including me with my samco heatwrapped. I have my fans setup as pushers for turbo clearance... so that may be an option?

The kit was from Speed Circuit, I have an eBay FMIC so my setup is unique which is why it doesn't fit. The fans barely clear the hot pipe. I still have the stock DP so I dont need a straight neck kit yet, I will probably get a spacer for it though.
I could run the fans on the front of the rad. if they fit between the AC condenser.

I started the car before I went to work and it sounded great with the new catless J/Mid pipe. But when I got back there was coolant all over the floor. Turns out the machine shop that drilled and tapped the bolt hole for the thermostat housing accidentally took a chunk of metal out around the rim the thermostat seals on. I put a bunch of silicone gasket maker all around the thermostat and in the gouge and reinstalled it. Hopefully when I fill the coolant in the morning it won't leak.

About to install Tokico Illumina shocks, rear v-brace, ladder brace, lower tie bar, and front end links on the P5. I'm still just torn between picking up a Racing Beat rear sway, or a 21mm AWR.. Any opinions to help break the tie?

you'll need a msp rear crossmember for the racing beat sway to fit properly

True; I've read that the MSP rear cross member is reinforced, or at least more sturdy than the P5 cross member. So I guess as far as rear balance goes, installing a MSP rear cross member with a Racing Beat sway would give you similar handling characteristics as installing the 21 AWR by itself.

I had no issues with my straight neck but then agian I have a Perrin FMIC and not the ebay one. YOu can't just reoute the piping a little bit different?

+1 I know it sucks but it might be your only option. I'm going to check out a possible replacement dd for my msp today. I hope it goes well so I can finally take care of my msp correctly.

Bluuuuuuuh...

Went to get the freon refilled abd discovered a massive leak from where a intercooler pipe was rubbing on the aluminum part of an ac hose. Removed the hose to have a friend weld it and of course the screw head for the screw bolting the line to the ac compressor snapped... Lame.

Oh well, got the line off and welded, now hopefully i can grab a hold of the screw sticking out of the compressor and back it out so i dont have to pull the compressor.

Cant ever be simple... But this was my fault for letting the pipes rub, not the cars.

yep i know exactly the spot your talking about....that damn ac lines get in the way ever where when doing FMIC installs.

It's windy as **** here this weekend. I just came home from a bookstore and there was literally no parking spots open so I had to park probably 300 feet from the building. My dad pointed out a nice big ******* door ding on my passenger front door... white paint and all. ******* great.

Yuh. I got it welded, just bope i can get the screw out and not have to pull the damn compressor.

Got on it a few times and broke loose in 2nd gear earlier today! Now I think my MAF is on the frits.. is starting to bog/sputter out again when i go near boost. I think the maf is starting to become a year or almost yearly maint on this car...
