Today the new floormats and plate frames arrived. Like Christmas!

Weathertech makes awesome products, but you can find better prices than their website .

Saved around $10 on the mats and license plate frames by ordering from Autogeek.net instead of Weathertech (coupons available by googling). Ordered Monday, arrived Friday.

OEM Mats: (note the 'pulling' after only 700 miles, Wilton wool they are not!)

These are secured with the same tabs as the OEMs, which don't seem to be all that necessary since the mats are perfectly shaped to sit in the footwell.

Not as "plush" a feeling on your tootsies as carpet, but from Nov-April these will be in and protecting the 5.

Yeah they cost more than cheapo Autozone mats, but this ain't no '85 Chevy Celebrity.

License plate frame

I kinda screwed up on these...
Wanted to ditch the dealer frames, and liked the idea of a frame with a clear cover, at least on the back.
Weathertech's covered frame looks nice, but tacking on $15 s&h to an already high price turned me off.
A few online reviews praised the "Ital" frames, which Autogeek carries and tacks on a more reasonable shipping charge:

For some reason I thought these had a cover, but really it's this model that's covered (but with an acrylic frame instead of cast alloy, which wouldn't bother me):

Anyway, I went ahead and installed the rear one. Don't think I'll bother sending these back for an exchange. Look much better and seem well constructed.

Mine is from my old BMW 328i Convertible, a polished stainless steel one with chrome covers. However, the Mazda's plate mounting hole is too big so I had to improvise. I used a 33cents flip up black covers which I will probably spray paint in chrome color. That's for the rear, for the front, I will most likely be ordering BumpShox from www.bumperdefender.com to reduce scuffing of the front end. I do have the colored 2" rear bumper strips that goes all the way across from end to end in the rear, they look like they came from the factory like that. I will post some pictures after a car wash this weekend.

I am thinking of getting the OEM all season mats for the M5GT, for the CX-9, the dealer threw those in and they fit quite nicely. I like the all weather mats, and they look good too.

My next accessories will be for the CX-9; front and rear splash guards getting ready for winter, and the front bra, not the clear kind but the traditional ones. I just can't afford the clear ones right now, though I like those a lot better.

I actually wound up getting a set from Walmart for $9 and cut to size and it seems to fit okay. It's over the existing mat and I cut little holes for the hooks and it did not come off yet. It will be used indefinitely until I get tired of them and then by another set. I think I will buy ones that will fit like an SUV or truck and cut those out, I should be able to cut it to exact fit. Save money, live better, Walmart!

Not saying the Weathertechs are worth $90 more, but they are made in the USA (just outside Chicago).
Probably would be 1/2 the price if made in China....
In cases where there is a choice I'm usually willing and able to pay the difference. Paid ~$30 more for Redwing shoes that were made in the US vs identical looking ones made in China. YMMV
Personally I'll buy motor oil at Walmart, nothing else.

Oh no, believe me, I did not mean that WeatherTech wasn't a good product. Quality wise, I would get them no doubt and gladly pay $100+ for them. I have no issue with that, just that I am currently on a budget (again) because I traded in both of my cars. For me right now, the $10 mat works to keep some of the stain off the factory mats. Though I'd rather just go with OEM all weather mats, which is what I have on the CX9 right now. I want to do the same for the M5GT as well.

No problem! I'm on a budget as well, just took some money from another budgeted fund (certainly not the Wife's Christmas gift one....) to get the Weathertechs :)

After 1 week we're really liking them; can't tell they're there.
We'll see how the handle Milwaukee winter, for the price they better catch everything and clean up easily!

I was told by the local dealer that the floorliners from 2010 would fit the 2012 as there was no changes to the floor? Can anyone confirm this? I am only asking because the weathertech site only lists row1 for 2012.

I sent an email to weathertech about the above. Here is their reply:

"The second and third row floor liners for the 2012 Mazda5 are finishing up the last few stages of production. We are expecting for the floor liners to be released in the next 2-4 weeks. At this time they will be posted on our website. If you have any questions please feel free to call or email us back."

Jing, did you just get that reply?

When I bought mine there was a spare set of front mats in the back so that's that. I'm rocking the "My other car is a Hot Wheels" license plate frame.
