FS-DE Oil System

Don't get me wrong...the AWR pan is very good for what it was intended for. It does have a variation on the theme of the gates with the directional tabs. However, if you are expecting some real movement of the oil in the pan there is nothing around the bottom of the pan where the head of the pickup sits. Due to the nature of the AWR pan with the upper plate welded in it looks like it might be quite a lot of work to add a gated system. I think it might be easier (and less expensive) to have a pan fabbed like the one we use. (just my 2 cents)

Tom. I am looking at building a pan like yours. Just turned my boost up a little more and figured I'd push it around a couple corners harder than normal. I watched the oil psi drop from 80 to 60. ...... Is it a DocB trade secret or would you be willing to post up some pics and some measurements..... I have my old stock pan which has a huge dent in it, that I thought I could cut the bottom off and weld up a rectangular section onto the bottom.

Can you elaborate as to how the gate system works? I see in the other pic you have that the gates are on hinges. Do they open toward or away from the pickup? Do you still use the stock oil pickup or have you modded that too?

Let me know if I have too many questions or ask too much.

I tapped and bunged mine. I tapped the thick square part at the back of the engine for my prv drain and put a bung in the front in the left most curvature for my turbo drain. How long can you wait? I need to take mine off cuz the existing drain has to be moved to fit the pope DP. If you're in no rush I can sell you mine.

can i see a pic of your setup?

i tapped it. worked just fine, just need a 90* not the 45* we got. oh well.

Anyways, can someone answer this?- How do we know which is "IN" side and which is "OUT"on the oil filter relocation? the kit that Zach got doesn't have any indication of this?

Google "how and oil filter works" or "flow direction of oilf filter". Find a good pic and figure it out.

Edit: flow goes through small holes and drains back through the middle.
