RX8 RIMS on Laser Blue P5!!!!

Very Nice! I love the rx-8 rims on the P5 (especially your laser blue)...but I too am squeamish running on 18's on the roads where I live.

i bent my 18 slightly, not enough to cause an issue (it was on the inside) that's 4 seasons with the rubber bands on there for tires...am thinking that i'll probably throw the 17 mp3 rims on for the trip to tennessee though?
Mark, I've been meaning to ask, what size tires do you have on those wheels?

which Falkens? I had Falken Ziex 512s on and they were great in the rain, right now I have Paradas on and the road noise is killing me, can't wait to go back to the Falkens.

Took some more photos before I left work this evening. Not exactly picturesque scenery but I saw the sun setting so I pulled out the camera.

do you think a 40 series would fit on the p5? The roads are not that good here, so i was gonna run a 215/40/18. If it makes any difference my car is not lowered.

rims look killer!!

I dig it. Big and sexy, but not over the top or too agressive for the car.

I will say though that i'm NOT a fan of the toyo proxes FZ4. Thats what i've got in the back, used to have em on front... i'll take the yoko ES 100's i've got on front now ANYday. But hey, it looks good.

No. 215/35/18 or nuthin. There is no room to spare.

i have a set of rx-8 rims that i just got...no tires or anything for them yet....so i was wondering since oyu have them on your car and have had them on for awhile...

what have you had to do to keep the tires from rubbing...from what i read i will need

215/35/18 tires....and spacers....but do i need 3mm or 5mm spacers???

do the fenders need to be rolled with those 2 things?

and where can i get the spacers from???

any other advice or comments you could give me would be appreciated

thanks

215/35/18 is the widest tire you are going to fit. The wheels fit on w/o any spacers but under hard cornering they knock up against the strut. To fix this you'll need a 3mm or larger spacer. Of course, this then puts them in tire rubbing territory so you will have to roll the fenders a little. the NEPOCers helped me do mine by warming them up with a heat gun and using a rubber mallet to bang the inner lip up just a little bit. That was all that was needed to stop the rubbing.

I bought them from someone on the forum who made them himself. It was the only set he had though. If you have the tools, you could make them out of sheet aluminum.

RX8 rims are 18x8 with a +50mm offset.
Toyo Proxes FZ4 215/35/18
Espelir Springs (1.4" drop I think)
Stock Struts

No spacers were used and the fenders have not been rolled (yet). There is no audible rubbing but I'm watching the tires carefully to see if they make contact. I think they might touch under heavy cornering because I saw a slight mark on the rear driver's side. I'll let everyone know if I have to roll the fenders in the future.

And now the moment you've been waiting for...
(sorry if they're a little blurry...I didn't have my tripod with me)

If I don't have lowering springs or anything dropped the rx8 rims should fit nicely right?

^^ +1 i brought my Speed6 18s home and had to try them on before the winter, was also before I had changed anything on the car over the winter, so stock height...

I am already looking for RX8 rims, i think i found, what extra did you have to do for them to fit or was any modifications made? I just want to slap on there like that but want to make sure they are a good fit. Gap not worried about. I just want to swap out the stupid 17's that i have on there now. currently all 17s are bent.

I ended up putting 3mm spacers in because they were knocking against the struts on the inside. Then I had to roll the fenders very slightly to avoid rubbing on big bumps...but that was with the car lowered 1/2". At stock height you may not have any issues.
