well that is not very easy........ and costly.....


best is the weight reduction....

take out all the seats and crap that you dont need..... lose some weight yourself.
take out the ac if you can.
light weight wheels. better tires.

easiest? get a wrecked MSP and strip off all the turbo goodies. then, install into your car. anything else won't be worth the money or effort. well, to clarify, won't give much of a performance increase for your money.

Simple upgrades would be as stated, exhaust, intake, throw in some NGK irridium spark plugs for better fire inside the engine. These are just the basics, its up to you to figure out what you would like to do. Feel free to ask more questions as all of us on the forum are very knowledgable.

the irridium plugs won't work any better than stock. for a minor bump in engine efficiency, get the stock 1.6 spark plugs. they have an extended tip to help with ingition timing.

Weight reduction isn't going to make an appreciable difference on a small scale, except for your unsprung weight. You remove 50lbs, you're not going to feel a huge difference. Adding heavier rims will make a difference in the negative direction, lighter rims will in a positive.

If you're going N/A, Intake-Header-Exhaust. An underdrive pulley will give you better pull in lower gears. With a lightened flywheel you will feel a big difference, but that's not cheap or easy to install. An MP3 ecu is also a must if you have a manual.

Unless you turbo, there's not huge power to be found. But, you can give the car more pep off the line, making it more fun to drive. The above suggestions will make that difference.

Nothing is that easy.A 40 or 50 shot of nitrous, but you'd need fuel ignition management controllability. Also a 626 intake manifold,CAI,header,bigger exhaust etc. These would make it run quite a bit stronger, maybe add 20 hp at the crank. The ability to advance ignition even more than an MP3 ECU will make the best power gains.But they're right, it would take a lot of $ to build a decent NA motor, believe me I know.Just do those mods and be happy with that.

plugs, wires, fluids....all the basics. then intake, header, exhaust. get your motor healthy before throwing mods at it.

Easiest power gain is to trade it in on something with a v8. Also I don't see where underdrive pulleys would help I had to drive my car to autozone with no serpentine belts and noticed no difference in power

Because it's not just the smaller diameter (which does help, by the way) but the reduction in rotational mass. They do make a difference.

I could understand that but I'm saying the only belt it was turning was the timing belt. There was no ac powersteering alt or waterpump for it to turn and I didn't feel a difference at all and I'm pretty sure that would be a bigger difference than lighter pullies

I don't know what to tell you then.

Dynos show they free up power, the experience of pretty much everyone who has installed them indicates they make a difference (including myself).

Maybe you should get one, install it and then see.
