What have you done to your P5 today?

I have some more parts such as projectors for a retrofit, tweeter sail panels and such that still need install. I have a long list of these i still want to do to this car.

I'd love to get the VTCS valves removed from mine... but I think that screws with my ST classification. Nobody would ever know, but I'd still rather not do it.

Removing the VTCS valves or swapping to a MP3 IM isn't ST legal per 2011 SOLO rules, it would bump you to FSP http://scca.org/documents/2011 Tech/2011 SCCA Solo Rules.pdf:

14.10.C. The air intake system up to, but not including, the engine inlet may be modified or replaced. The engine inlet is the throttle body, carburetor, compressor inlet, or intake manifold, whichever comes first. The existing structure of the car may not be modified for the passage of ducting from the air cleaner to the engine inlet. Holes may be drilled for mounting. Emissions or engine management components in the air intake system, such as a PCV valve, or mass airflow sensor, may not be removed, modified, or replaced, and must retain their original function along the flow path."

I'm having a brake problem...

I was working on my rear passenger side brakes as they have been grinding for a little while and I haven't had time to fix them till now... anyway. As I was working on the system I found that the piston was not retracting at all. I found a rather large hole in the rubber gasket that was leaking brake fluid. I order a new gasket from AutoZone to fix that but I'm concerned now that I wont be able to get the piston back in the housing enough to slide it over the rotors. Will the gasket alone fix my problem or will I have to buy a whole new caliper?

There's the piston dust cover and then there's the piston seal, which are you talking about?

Also, how are you retracting the piston? You can't push and turn these in, you need to turn a small gear at the back of the piston (hidden behind a bolt) counterclockwise with an allen key.

If it's leaking and hard to retract I'd buy new ones, unless you're really confident that you can rebuild it properly. Mazda sells a kit that contains all the seals, dust boots and other rubber bits that you'll need to rebuild 2 calipers. The procedure for rebuilding can be found in the service manual.

Hidden behind a bolt, eh? Didn't know that... I'll have to look for that. Basically what's happening is the piston is not retracting at all. As such the rubber that surrounds the piston has gotten a hole in it.

Yep. Look for a brass bolt on the back of the caliper that is directly behind the piston. Loosen that badboy and you'll see the hex head bolt in the hole.

There's two bolts at the back of the caliper (both the same size), one holds the parking brake bracket, the other hides the gear.

As for the rubber seal, are you talking about the one that's visible in this image:

If that's what you're talking about, that's not what's leaking. If you remove the piston entirely you'll see another seal near the edge of the cylinder which is probably what's leaking. The seal visible in the picture is just to keep dust out.

Well... not what I did, but what happened to my sister who is driving my P5. Ebrake failed. Car rolled down a hill and almost took out another car...

I really hope the rear wheels didn't suffer damage. I just got those damn things.

Yay rust :(

I forgot to mention that my ABS light came on again yesterday. It's been quiet for over a year but now it's on again. Same sensor (rear left), hopefully I can fix it like I did last time (compressed air to clean off the dirt and brake dust).

Just orderd a 100k+ sticker from ihatestickers.com and will be going on the car once the car is up and running

That has to be the closest non-involved, not car accident I have ever seen.
