2002 Mazda Protege
I've got a 2002 mazda protege 5 speed manual with a bit over 105,000 miles on it and i believe the first clutch. After the car gets good and hot, it shutters (vibrates the hole car violently) when letting the clutch out in first gear. I am absolutely sure I am not lugging the engine because it does the exact same thing when other people drive it. I noticed a while back the the front and passengers side engine mounts were ripped and thought this to be the culprit. I changed them and it has become somewhat less violent. Not quite sure what to try next.

the protege clutches were prone to shuttering back in 02, and there was a TSB concerning it. since you are out of warranty, you will have to pay for the fix. i would upgrade to a spec clutch and lightweight flywheel.

clutch chatter. very common with pro's.
you need to have the flywheel resurfaced, and imo replace the clutch. I just installed an oem exedy clutch, and it soooo smooth now. no more violent shaking.

*ninja'd* lol

How long was the process? Difficulty?

I am experiencing the same thing too. Is this a big problem tho? Like if I ignore this problem for now, what are some likely consequences?

it could shake bad enough to ruin your motor mounts. not to mention shaking the whole car making everything loose. lol
my sis has a p5 as well, and she starts off in 2nd gear to avoid the chattering.

I have this same problem. It's a very violent shudder. I can avoid the shudder somewhat if i give it more gas than usual when starting from a stop.
