Window Locks on 2011

Hello all,
I just purchased a 2011 GT and there is something different than our 2008. When I activate the window lock so that my daughter doesn't play with her window, it also locks the driver out as well. Only the driver window will go up and down. Is there any way to use the window lock but have the ability to use the driver's window controls for all of the windows?

thanks,
mike

Funny all my mazdas, both current and current always behaved like that, so I don't see a problem. :)

huh, I thought our 2008 acted differently. I must have forgotten or confused it with my passat.

Too me, it would make no sense to lock yourself out of having control over the windows. I trust that my left hand will do what i want but I don't necessary trust all of the occupants in the car. Anyone have an idea why they would set it up this way?

thanks,
mike

With 2008 model, if I recall correctly, the window lock does not lock out the window of the driver's side.

Yes, if you press the lock button only the driver can use the driver window. He cannot open or close any of the other windows including the one your child rolled down that you want to roll back up. It's retarded and wasn't like that on my VW or Mercedes. We had a big argument about this on another thread and the problem obviously was with your childs lack of discipline not Mazda's lack of implementing an obvious feature that most cars already have :sarcasm:.

Now I get it.

You know the last time I didn't have control over the passenger side windows when I was in the driver seat? When I had to use a manual crank. Nice job Mazda. Other than this, a pretty stellar car.

You know, on 2008 model, the LED lights on the switches tell the driver that certain switches are not functioning.
It has never caused any confusion to me.

Somehow, Mazda decided to change the lights on the switch for later models, so, the confusion began.
