Grand-Am Bosch Engineering 250 @ VIR ~ May 13-15, 2011

Oh.... I won't make it this weekend. I got attached to a project in bumblefark Alabama for the week. I can't see me driving 4 hrs home, 6 hrs to VIR after car change, and heading 6 hrs back to work 12 hr days x4.

By far the coolest picture I have ever taken! I actually got some really great shots (even better, clearer, and more colorful than this one), but it was my goal this summer to catch some of the RX8s shooting fireballs. I'm glad I got this one early in the season, LOL! I wish the 69 boys would've cleaned their car before the pic, though...

Anyways, I had a great time. I might write up a big thank you and pour out my heart and soul, but I need to rest and recover before then...oh, and go through the rest of the 400 pictures that will be added to Flickr... Thanks to everyone who was a part of this memorable experience!

Heh. I shall teach you the ways of catching the fireballs, my son. Last year, I caught every RX8 not far from our tent (in the esses) with the point and shoot.

James, please send me a link to all of the pics when you are done, I need to upload them to Mazdaspeed Motorsport's Facebook page and also to send to Castrol and Grand-Am.

Just wanted to thank all of you guys who worked your asses off this weekend! It was a great success, Mazdaspeed Motorsports is very happy, as you know by John's and Jim's statements at dinner. Grand-Am was very pleased, as we continue to have the most cars again, 3 years running and we do have the best people as well! Looking forward to keeping the momentum going, as we head into a really important test, with Lime Rock and Road Atlanta!

Great job guys and we'll see you at the next event. BTW, Castrol was happy as well, as one of the execs from Castrol was impressed by the number of Mazda owners cars in the corral and the display set up in our tent.

Heh... the corral that was cut in half, but we filled our half, and spilled into the Camaro corral as well.

Looking forward to seeing some pictures you guys took at the event! I couldn't be there so I'm going to live through your experiences :D

Will do. They will be uploaded to a Flickr account, which can then be downloaded and put anywhere. Thanks Marlon!

I've updated my site with the information and pictures form the weekend, feel free to share the link to promote the corral

http://zmfrzm.net/vir2011.html

Great job Pablo, do we have any shots of the corral? I would lke to send the line to the site to Mazdaspeed Motorsport and also to the Castrol folks! We still have people talking about the great job you guys did! Even got a lot of feedback from the teams as well.

I've got shots of the corral, as soon as I can put them up...tonight after work, possibly.

This is on the Grand-Am website

Even with all of the excitement on track, the Freedom Autosport drivers still found time
to meet with Mazda owners participating in the weekend’s Mazda car corral. In addition,
the team sold team shirts and raffled off prizes, including a high-performance driving
school donated by Chin Motorsports, to raise money for the Injured Marine Semper Fi
Fund. The team, assisted by the Team Ohio Mazda Club, raised over $1200 during the
course of the weekend.

Thanks to Lauri, Tom, Pablo, The Phen, Chippy, Justine, Larry, Jenny, Dave B and Greg (Carolina Mazdas) for their assistance, you guys did a helluva a job!
