The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

stupid question: on a Mazda 6 (or any other), with a stock intake, should I be able to change the tube that connects the air box to the rest of the system?

also, what exactly will cause the engine to throw oil towards the air filter?

My sister is having issues with her 6, I told her to get a compression test. I doubt the cracked intake tube will cause that. She's throwing codes P0113, P0174 & P0171

there is alot of crappy sandler movies. 50 first dates, longest yard, mr. deeds...I hardly watch any of his movies anymore

only 4 more days of work until i'm done with it! i'm so excited to stay at home with the kids!!

Reign Over Me is the best Sandler movie I've seen, followed by Chuck and Larry. Other that that I don't really care for his movies

You should be able to just change that pipe itself. A bad PCV valve can cause oil to end up in weird places. I have a compression tester if you ever need to use it.

So... Intake Air Temp sensor is a closed circuit, and both banks are too lean. Makes sense if the IAT is reading that the temperature is a million degrees. If there is oil in the intake piping, there's a chance the IAT is coated and caused a malfunction.

yeah, i told her that and the MAF needs to be cleaned (obviously she can't do that herself). I told her to get a compression test to be safe, it's an '04 and she didn't have it checked like I told her to when she bought it. I'll bring up the PVC valve.

She's in Tampa now... roadtrip?

As far as "LMS" goes, it started out as a joke. It's always been a joke and meant to be funny, not meant to hurt people's feelings. But until I have my own house with my own garage, please refrain from using the term "LMS". Thanks. :)

ps- But I'm always still willing to lend a helping hand to friends in my half of the garage. No worries there.

Hows the car, bone structure, and tendons?

I wish I could hit the numbers so I could stay home too..

lol...car is acting up, mpgs are down and last night I noticed a faint gas smell while standing about 10ft away...not quite as bad as rotten eggs but there. Cleaned the MAF earlier, trying to find a local place that sells filter cleaner and I may as well change plugs...oh yeah $930 to get the rust fixed but otherwise she's doing just fine. I actually get juiced up in a couple of hours, round 2 of 3 and the first worked pretty good so anxious to see how much better I feel after this one.

On the upside, the sun is shining! :D
