Brand new AWD CX-9, safe in snow with the Dueler tires?

I had a 07 Jeep SRT with 20" RFT;s and live in the Chicago area. As long as the snow was not above the fascia, I never had a problem. We are talking all wheel drive and all season tires. I can't believe some of the comments. Maybe you need to learn how to drive in bad weather. I learned on RWD many years ago. FWD was a huge event. AWD is just terrific for getting going, but common sense rules. It does not stop any faster. Practive in an empty lot. With Traction Control and AWD, you have everything you need.

Agree, I have had a number of vehicles over the years in New England and Mid-Atlantic snow, and never purchased snow tires. I considered it a lot but once I switched to AWD drive cars, SUVs, ect, no issues, with traction and stopping in the snow. My biggest issue with traction has been FWD and RWD cars on hiills with snowy/icy/slushy conditions - that is where I wished I had snow tires. However I have always wanted to avoid having two sets of wheels but I must admit I did for my Pacifica AWD that I just traded in for the CX-9. I did not run snow tires on those wheels though.

I have been very unimpressed with the handling of the OEM Duellers in snow.

I bought my CX-9 used so I'm not sure how many miles are on the tires but they look to have medium wear. A few weeks back I slid out the rear coming around a corner in slush. I was able to recover but it was a surprise because I was not driving aggressively and I've driven in snow a lot. My front wheel drive Volvo with Blizzaks handles much better in the snow. I'm going to get some proper snow tires for next season.
