The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

what's up?

i've been watching crazy videos of the tsunami and earthquake...f-ing nuts

this is my fave, though

That is F-ing crazy. It looks amazing in a weird way though, like it was taken out of a scene from movie Inception. I like he is just walking around al calm even though at any moment the ground could fall out from underneath him.

Just wanted to add that I agree with Levi...It's a 04-09. I use the hood as the best reference point--speed hoods don't curve downwards, if that makes any sense...it also doen't have two lines running down the hood

that being said, it could be sweet for the right price!

Ya that's right about the 04-09. You can also tell by the steering wheel...the new 3's have a million buttons on the wheel LOL

But damn....for $750 plus shipping, that's insane!!! RWD or AWD is a must on this

I like how the sidewalk looks like rubber during that first part...it's almost liquidity

And the water lapping up like it's on the side of the sea?! Wtf?! It's reclaimed lad that used to be Tokyo bay. Dude was pretty calm about it all. I think id be screaming if I saw that s*** :)

Ahhhh the media hype and sensationalism surrounding the issues with Japan's nuclear reactors is amazing.

I guess it's the same reason why I can't watch submarine movies either... I know too much to separate the truth from the BS.

Indeed sir. I was designing the safety system for the nuke that my company is developing, so I learned the ins and outs of the system rather well. It's a "simple" concept that's the same (generally speaking) across the board for most nukes. I don't know about the marine side of things, but the PWRs for generation are pretty much the same.

So I picked up a 6 Pack of local beer here in Vancouver from a company called Grand Island Brewery. The beer is their Lions Winter Ale. Man is this stuff DELICIOUS! It has a slight vanilla aftertaste, but not sweet. Definitely on the malty side though.

Mmmmmm Too bad this s*** is 15 CAD a 6 pack. (about 15.50 USD)

^^^Chris (or Subspeed6 if using real names on here is awkward for you),

Phen tells me you have H&R coilovers on your Speed6. How has the experience been? Has it seen track time? I'm just trying to figure it all out because I think I am ordering tomorrow or the next day. Any insight from someone who has dealt with them would be great! I love the fact that the struts themselves seem high quality, but I don't know what to think about using a progressive spring with them. At least the MS3 uses a prog. spring.

Thanks in advance for any info or insight! Feel free to PM or just post up here!

As far as I know I don't think the H&R for the MS6 use a progressive spring, although I wish it did. I was one of the first people to have them. For normal everyday driving they are nice, but I haven't tracked them at all and to be honest I wouldn't recommend it either. The reason being is the shocks are not damping adjustable and only height adjustable. The only good side about the H&R coilover set is the fact they were specifically designed for the MS6 and not a Mazda6 port over(i.e. Higher spring rates in the rear for the MS6).

One thing I have noticed with having the H&R set is that the car has gone from having understeer to oversteer(body roll seems to be the main cause).... But I think it will be different for your car. If you want to talk about quality, fit and finish, etc.. Yes they are nice, but I'm not the person to be asking for performance beyond normal everyday driving. Sorry man.

Edit: Damn this beer is awesome.

Not sure if anyone is overly interested but I saw a 04 msm (mx5) for $12,500 w/ 31,000miles. Sounded like a good deal to me and thought I would throw it out there.

It still helped me out, so thank you! It does not say the MS6 coilovers use a progressive spring, but the MS3 ones definitely do. I do want both height and damper adjustments, so I guess I am sticking with BC at this point. I wish KW V2 weren't so expensive...I understand you gotta pay to play, though. I'm sure I will be more than happy with BC, I just wanted an additional assurance of reliability and performance with a slightly better name (H&R or KW). Thanks for all the help, to Chris and everyone else who I have bothered over the past couple weeks!

Just throwing this out there but my girlfriends band (Irish folk music, she plays violin) is playing at the Barley House in Akron this thursday 3-10pm. I'll be down there for a bit if anyone wants to come hang out.

is that the bar that has or had pimp n' hoe night?
When I used to visit a friend of mine up there that works at Summit, we would go there and be dressed up like pimps, lol. Kinda funny walking in throwing fake dollar bills everywhere.

Spring stuff inserted here.

After looking into it the MS6 H&R coilovers do not have progressive springs. I'd definitely ask H&R if your set they sell has a damping adjustment before buying them. The reason I bought mine is because it provided a lowering of the car while keeping a nice DD suspension. I never meant to have the MS6 as an autox or track car, but a daily driver. So the H&Rs met my needs. However, I am now flirting with the idea of getting into things with my Miata because of you Ohio people and Mazda friends here in Atlanta. Maybe I'll have a better answer for you in the coming few months but if not, I'd definitely ask around with people of the MS3 platform.

tl;dr = Ask the MS3 folk because I R dumb.

I honestly don't know. I don't really go to bars very often. It's a big place so the acoustics in there are usually pretty terrible but a lot of my friends' bands play there.
