The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

to kill time at work? We have a wedding to save for too. that comes first, then a house, then a car. what's min trade-in at MAG?

The car is most important. How can you get to work from that house without a well-working car? You'll go into foreclosure. You won't be able to get to your wedding either, unless you plan on hitching.

:D

lol, all very true, but I said it was a POS. I never said it wasn't working, once it dies I'll come see you or the other stuff happens first. I'm driving her car cause she's driving my mom's car to Indy for school (so she wouldn't have to worry about her car breaking down) and I'm about to start tearing my car apart on Sunday (fingers crossed) I was going to start today but spent all day changing the coolant sensor and coil pack in my mom's car and ofcourse watching basketball tourneys

so if you guys are the cool ones, does that make us Team Iffy?

hey if you want to admit to being iffy thats fine by me... LOL

So, I have been talking to Mark from Tri-Point a lot during the process of my build. Turbo kit and speed trans are on the way among lots of other things. Pallet should be here next week. It turns out they are getting out of racing to focus on customer cars. At the beginning of last year they purchased two body's in white from Mazda. One they built for world challenge, then turned time attack car. The other never got put together. It is a 2010 speed, and it's for sale. CHEAP. The car is as pictured, just the body, sub-frames, dash, and well thats about it. Rachelle and I are talking about it. Awd rally project? Mid engine Clio of sort's? FWD touring car? Seems like a get blank canvas to do anything including emptying a wallet and maxing out credit cards. For futher explanation on BIW's, click the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_in_white

hate to break it to ya but the pics you posted are not of a Speed3 NOR a 2010...... thats without a doubt in my mind an 04-09 mz3 shell

Just wanted to add that I agree with Levi...It's a 04-09. I use the hood as the best reference point--speed hoods don't curve downwards, if that makes any sense...it also doen't have two lines running down the hood

that being said, it could be sweet for the right price!

$750 plus shipping is what they want for it. He started off at $1500. Nice catch Levi about the model. I first looked at them on my phone. Must of got it in my head that it was a speed. Love is blind..... He did say it is a 2010, I'll have to call him on Monday. But in a way its better, parts should be cheaper/easier to find! Ahhh I don't want to go to work today! The last 2 months I have worked 70+ hours each week. This is making Jack a very dull boy.

judging by that hood its def. an 04-09 cause the 2010 have the grill incorporated into the bumper not the hood.....

but its still a good price...

and for a suggestion on what to do for the blank canvas, may i mention making it RWD (the NC miata DOES have a 2.0 MZR motor) and i know you know the MZR motor since its in our 3's as well... so you could use the frame and drivetrain from an NC and then you got a motor that you already know so its WIN WIN

plus you could be the FIRST and ONLY RWD Mazda3 haha

ive had the thought to do the RWD swap with NC parts but i dont have the funds to do something like that right now LOL

I thought the answer to any body in white question was an LSx?

In other news, somehow this little think attached to me helmet cost more than my wheels:

I installed SS lines and Hawk pads today, my stock pads still have more than 50% life left. If somebody wants them let me know, otherwise I'll throw them away

Lol, expected life of coil over sleeves: 23 minutes.

I've heard that the actual sleeve itself is okay, but the springs are junk. From what I've seen, the guys that want to do coil over sleeves usually get one of those ebay kits, keep the sleeve thing and toss the springs, and then get custom springs from a circle track suspension provider. They have all kinds of crazy spring sizes and rates.
