The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Yeah... this is exactly how I found the 2nd bad bearing in the MSM before it got too bad.

Ok. I'm going to say something only once about what was said in here yesterday.

Most of us know each other pretty well. There aren't many that someone doesn't see somewhat often. However, what bothers me is the fact that I said the exact same thing a couple weeks ago, and no one got upset or offended. Hell, I've told some of you this to your face. I'm not defending Levi here. I'm merely stating that I've already said this stuff, and no one gave a damn. The moment someone else says it, a lot of people that it may or may not have been directed at got upset (in this case, I think that people who got upset were NOT the ones the comment was directed to). That part is really unfortunate. It really bothers me to be honest. Especially because not so long ago, a few of us saw a complete meltdown of the Cleveland 6 Club. I wasn't even a founding member, or even one of the early guys to hop on board, but I loved everything that we did. Differences of attitude and mindset, and people not realizing what was happening tore that place up. There are times when things like this happen that I fear if s*** keeps up, this little group we've got going here may do the same. I'm all about clearing the air and getting s*** on the table so that it can be resolved quickly. I'm really bad about this though as Evan, Marlon, and Lauri know. I don't want to sound like I'm in charge of anything, or anything like that... but this Ohio section on this forum is my baby. I love knowing that we have one of the most active states both on and off the internet. Before I got this moderator title, this area was beyond dead. Now... it's freaking booming, and we have people coming onto the forum who only stay in our little "home."

Regarding "Team Ohio falling apart..." yeah, not happening. Levi expressed an opinion that has been bottling up for... probably 6 or so months. I know because I've been talking to him about it since I was in China. As I said before, I've said the exact same thing. The unfortunate thing is that it's forum-wide. Not just stuff going on here. It only really bothers me when it goes on with us locals. In a nutshell, here's my take on everything going on in the car culture. On one side, you have the hella-flush mad camber slammed folk. They have an attitude and "lifestyle" all their own and have no problem defending it. Well... this mindset pisses off the other side where most of us are... the "ok, my car's kinda modded but I can drive it and I like to." So... we don't understand their style, and we tell them that we think it's dumb. Ok... that's fine. But what happens in the long run (and I think it has all over this forum) is that the more we consider it dumb, the more we do to express why it's better and smarter to do the things we do to our cars. When we do this, we all developed an "elitist, my s***'s better than your s***" attitude. Whether any of us have sat and thought about it or not, it's true. Rather than accepting them as fellow car nuts, we've segregated ourselves because we have different definitions of building a car. I'm absolutely guilty of this.

So... while I rambled quite a bit, and probably said nothing of any importance, I just wanted to say that I agree with much of what was said, and I think that the reaction to what was said was a bit confusing to me... especially because I've already said just about everything that he said a month or so ago.

With this post, I'm going to say that anything else posted on this topic that isn't a thoughtful discussion will be cleaned up. I'm not going to deal with petty bickering just because someone had a difference of opinion.

Now... On to the good s***!

Well, said.....Phen you have done a great job in our community, both on and off the boards. I think a lot of the frustration is due to the weather,(cabiin fever), a lot of us working more than playin and so on. I along with others still feel we have a strong group of people and with what you have said, speaks volumes.

This forum has been the only thing keeping me sane the last few months. It was very unsettling to see non-positive things happening in our team. I can't wait till it warms up so we can all get together again.

I love you guys!

just not ohio...

I'll try the jacking up the car and pulling the wheel. My only thought was to jack it up and spin the wheel and listen but didn't think i could spin it fast enough. Stupid cold weather! It's suppossed to be 55 tomorrow but i have to work 9-3 then cold again on sunday.

I never could tell by listening with the wheel off the ground. I could definitely feel it by checking with the wheel off the ground.

So I just realized the Miata is in dire need of an oil change... While it's not at the 3500 mile mark, it's been about 5-6 months since the last one. I'm just dreading that the threads in the oil pan will give up the ghost and break free like some have already.

The MS6 needs a tune up bad... New plugs, wires, etc.... The Miata could use one too.

It'd be nice to be able to be home for a length of time to get all this crap done.

*** just a note since it seems there is a little misunderstanding

my venting was about somethings ive seen/noticed and i wanted to get it off my chest...
im not one to beat around the bush and sugarcoat things, if something needs to be addressed/said so it can be worked on to improve then so be it ill say it... but at the same time, im not going to just open my mouth and spew something like last night just for s**** and giggles, if im going to rant its because i saw something that i felt needed to be addressed

i was not meaning to attack or belittle anyone, i was more trying saying look this attitude that is starting to develop whether we realize it or not needs to change (myself included)

i realize that things if not corrected now could lead to division and worse with this group.. i was not trying to imply that we are totally falling apart at this present moment although reading back i can see how some took it that way...

i view you guys as family and id rather lovingly smack you upside the head with a little bit of truth/realization now than see it get worse down the road

now for the other part of this.... the stress from a rough work/personal life did take/change the tone a bit from what i had originally planned and for that i apologize to you guys

well instead of dealing with brakes and checking the bearings, I'm trying to figure out why my mom's check engine light is on. The code read diagnosed misfire 6 cylinder hmmm....

it's a 2000 monte carlo ss if that helps anyone help me

Check coil pack and pull the plug in #6 cyl and check it

Ok...here is a great way to start my weekend. Lauri and I rode onto work together due to the bad weather....we work 5 minutes apart! I get dropped off at my door, (love curb serviceduring bad weather). Lauri leaves from my office and this jackass plow driver hits the front end of my wagon....another day in paradise!

On another note the Piloti's have arrived.

Sucks to hear man. Seriously. You're rockin the stock bumper on it right now right?

Not that it makes it any better at all, but at least it wasn't the kit bumper. That s*** would be a pain in the ass to fix again.
