it was just about time to get new tires anyway. so whats the widest tire we can fit on the stock rims. 225? i dont mind staying with 215's but why not can i get 225's on the stock speed3 rims? im sure there is a million threads on this but im lazy and in a rush cause i cant keep borrowing my dads car for long. thanks guys!

you have SOOOOO MANY more choices if you go with 225/40 then the stock 215/45...just my 2 cents.

i just put stock size fierce instincts on mine and they are quite wide, as were the eagle gt's i had before.. i liked both. i was considering going to 225, but the 40 series is just too thin for me and 45 rubs with some tires.. so, to answer your ?, lots of pepole run 225/40 with no probs. any wider adversely affects handling. some people get away with 225/45, but some rub. there you go, 2 months of searching condensed.

I think the 225/40 would work ok but your speedo will be off and you will have visibly more fender gap. A drop would fix that but....

Well the 40's will give you a bit more wheel gap but you can run 225's without worry, I am not confident that you won't get rubbing in the rear wells if you go to a 225/45. I asked that same question when I first purchased the car in 08 and tire rack explain to me that on a 18x7 wheel with 225 is ok but it will have that fat jelly belly look, where if you go with a 18x7.5 it will still be flush, and upgrading from 215-45 next size is 225-40 to keep the same aspect ratio so the speedo stays on track. Guess worse that can happen is you'll have to roll your fenders so why not try it and let us know.?

I have run Yokohama 225 45 18 for 44K, first 2 days when I hit a big bump I heard the littlest bit of rubbing, right rear, never heard it again and no damage to wheel well, other brands might not work so well. I carry all my painting equipment in the car approx 300 lb's
