Any photographers in here?

It's a wannabe dSLR. Great optics in a small package + manual controls + rotational screen. You wont regret if you purchase it.
The only thing it lacks is HD video.

Pretty much. The new G12 has HD.

This is another from the G11 with off-camera flash

You can make it pretty badass too LOL.

You can also get a 35mm viewfinder for it, since the one on camera is pretty small.

And you can get adapter sets to put on filters like a polarizer, and graduated ND filters.

Seeing as you are shooting in "Auto" mode.... I would suggest changing out of that. The whole point of a DSLR is that you can control things, and auto mode controls them for you. My personal favorite is shooting in Aperture Priority... but work with what works for you.

thanks for the tip wagonbacker9 unfortunately i dont have the manual anymore my wife threw it away by accident which is aperture priority

Just push up the exposure compensation. google your camera model and exposure compensation and you can find out how.

exactly what it sounds like.... you set the aperture, and then the camera compensates the exposure time to accomodate it.

One thing I see recommended to every DSLR newb (which I probably still qualify as in many respects) is reading the book "Understanding Exposure".

it's still an automatic mode, and you're still going to underexpose photos unless you change the exposure compensation. If you're using any of the auto modes (Av and Tv included), you need to know how exposure compensation works.
