Mishimoto Mazda Protege Radiators ('01-'03) now available!

ill look at some different pics. the guy i usualy buy from recieved 1 of these and took pics of all round and insie the fittings and i didnt like what i seen. if it has been fixed i will buy 1 in a heart beat!

Get a grip !! Do you want function or style ? The radiator will not be seen. if the product does its job. Great

well if you dont like it then dont get it...simple as that..... there are other radiators out there to choose from so take your pick of one of those....end of story

once i get some cash to spare ill get one till then i have to wait....

whoa... read all my post 1st you 2. if i could like you to where i seen the pics i would and you would see what im talking about.
and if i buy anything it always has to look as good as it performs. thats like marrying a realy ugly chick because she gives good head. it just doesnt make since. i've been building since i could turn a wrench and have never scaraficed performance for something that looks like what i seen in the picks.

That is true, but you have to admit the price is great compared to the AWR,PWR or Ron Davis. To me, function over presentation is key.

true it is cheaper. and like i said if the rest of them do Not look like the 1 i seen i will buy 1.

I'm not sure what radiator you saw (and what it was like) but the one we have on our race car has quite nice welds and looks pretty good too?!? We do alot of welding and fabricating in the shop and I know my welds are not nearly as nice as the welds on our Mishimoto.
Also, the performance was even better than the Ron Davis that we had on the race car previously!

Thats funny^....the only pics i have seen is whats on here....i think they look good.... i dont know what pic your talking about....why dont you post it up here so we can check it out and see for ourselves

im in afgan on a gov computer and they restrict the s*** out of what we can do on their computers. its on sams forum if you all know where in talkin about.

wen i get it which will be friday or monday ill post pics of it all around.....just for yall lol...

So, will the stock fan shrouds work with this or do you need new mounting hardware? Probably discussed in the other thread, but that's too much reading to find the quick answer, especially since there was talk about Mishimoto building a fan shroud.
Also, if this is a dual core, does that mean it's a dual pass? If so, how would a dual pass function better then a triple pass from Ron Davis?
Thanks :)

The radiator has the mounting tabs for the sedan/P5 fans built in. To use this radiator in an MSP you would need the upper mounting tabs from a sedan/P5. The fans from the sedan/P5 should work for the MSP also but check your clearances and fan requirememts.

As far as double and triple pass, I think some might be confusing double pass with double or triple core. Double pass radiators have a plate welded into the end tank to change the direction of flow for SERIOUS cooling issues seen on the track and wouldn't work well fro street or stree/track applications. Double or triple core refers to how many vertical rows (ie two or three rows) of cooling tubes the radiator has. Triple pass I have not heard of before??

Thanks!
Tom

I'm using someone elses terminology which may be wrong. They may have meant triple core? Either way, how would the Mishimoto dual core work better then the Ron Davis triple core? Different internal design?

Well...you are correct that the radiator shown is indeed a triple pass....look at the end tanks and you see that there are weld lines where the plates would have been welded in to force the water to go in the directions shown by the arrows.
With that said, the thread you reference is from 2004 in report of some prototype parts. I had a Ron Davis Mazda Protege Radiator on our race car and it was not a triple pass as the picture shows. I'm not sure that this design made it past the prototype stage?? I think the radiators that were eventually (and currently) made were of a more conventional single pass design (but I may be wrong?)
So, I cannot say that the Mishimoto radiator is better than the Ron Davis directly as I have not done rigorous testing on both. I can say that I have used both in our race car and the Mishimoto performed every bit as well as the Ron Davis. The final point is that a Mishimoto only costs $255 shipped and the Ron Davis is in the $400 neighborhood plus shipping.
