Need help choosing a subwoofer set up in the mazda? I can help get you on the right path wether you're wanting to just add a little extra bass or to shake the ground! Worked with most company's out there so i can tell you the good and the bad!

Rockford Fostgate P3 FTW! In a custom fiberglass enclosure bolted to my trunk. So nice.

I have dual Alpine 12" Type X's. I can't say enough about these subs. I've had them for about 4 years now. However, they do require a larger enclosure. But they really aren't expensive at all. If you bought one and got an enclosure to match the width of the hatch (to maximize space), it shouldn't be so bad

I run a single Kenwood KFC-XW1200F in a truck box. Sounds great, only needed a 250W Rockford amp. Leaves me plenty of room in the hatch, and doesn't make the car's ass float around from extra weight.

Hi,

I just got my hands on a 2005 Mazda6 S with a standard stereo system. I would like to customize the whole stereo system. Starting with the subs... I want to add a good amount of bass without loosing all the space in the trunk. I thought about high quality 8" subwoofers for the rear corners of he trunk. Also may upgrade existing speakers Do you have any ideas on what will work well in this car?

i was honestly just going to run into a reputable shop and tell them to do everything but i feel like theyd rob me if i didnt know anything. i have a ms3 and didnt want a huge enclosure. and this car is a lifer, so i need the space in the trunk for groceries and what have you. was looking into a single sub and i herd stock amp shouldnt be used or cant be used? any thoughts of which brand besides JL? still debating between a 10 inch and 12 also. what amp? im a newb to this, but my bose sub suxxxxx, and that is all i know. i think i might get rid of stock HU also...

run a pioneer flat sub. i cant recall the exact name but the sub is nearly flat and can handle i think 1200-1500watts. google it

thanks broski! also, should i run matching pioneer amp with that flat sub? will it still give me some good bass? stock is pos...just dont want to buy it and wish for more, although im not tryna wake up the whole flocking block. ty again

I've had a kenwood amp in my p5 for a few months and have never had a problem with it, Rockford makes great amps too, sony X-plode amps are pretty cheap and they'll work fine if your not gonna load em up too much.

Personally I'm going with the JL Audio 10w3v3 in this enclosure.

I plan on using JL's 600/1 amp. Something simple.

I made the choice based on knowing the sub will fit and having used JL Audio 6w0 and I loved it, knowing full-well I'd probably need more down the road. Which I did, but I've wanted to try their products out again.

it will give off some good bass and any good amp and 2 of these things would rock. they are small enough to run 2 and have all the room in the world.

I would never use 2. I use a sub for sound re-enforcement, not excessive bass. Small, tight bass is what I'm after.

i wasnt talking to you i was talking to iseong. some people like alot of bass...realy personal preferance. and wow you want sound re-enforce mint get more mids subs are for bass.

Couple things - I didn't know who you were talking to because you didn't quote anyone. No s*** subs are for bass, but some people like a fuller sound, not just bass.

a fuller sound! lmao that statement right their tells me you know nothing about sound systems and proper english. i work and co-own a performance and sound shop and when we ask the costomer what they want they say more bass to COMPLETE their sound system in their car. 2 flat pioneer subs will work just fine in this case.

i looked up pioneers shallow mount. looks good. but if i go shallow and thin this will still hinder clear and deep bass compared to a larger 12 or 10 inch? sorry i just dont know s*** about audio. my bose unit works good so can i get rid of stock amp and sub when i install my new ones?

the 12" are the way to go since the are barly 6-8inches thick lol. 12"will be fine and wont hinder trunk space. ive installed these subs in many vechicals. you can do what you like all stock speakers and subs should hook to a new amp with minimal trouble. the bass these things produce is awsome and will keep you sondering how pioneer did it.
